I'm impressed, those vocal cords of his actually should be necrotized and yet have been reanimated.

I'm on "Pumping Blood" too, having skipped "The View". PB's as trippy as Pleasant Plains's.

Maybe more Danson and Galifianakis would help (Eazy), Thursday, 20 October 2011 04:43 (fourteen years ago)

I'm digging this! The sheer batshittedness-ess-ness of it all. Lou sounds like the embodiment of what Eastwood looks like in "Gran Torino."

I love that two acts who have made careers out of pissing off their fans have banded together to piss off EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD.

markers, Thursday, 20 October 2011 04:44 (fourteen years ago)

CMOOOOOOON JAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

markers, Thursday, 20 October 2011 04:44 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, if you just get rid of your old blinders this is amazing

Chris S, Thursday, 20 October 2011 04:45 (fourteen years ago)

I love how "Pumping Blood" is basically Lou going "See the whole time I wished I was in Steppenwolf back then."

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 20 October 2011 04:46 (fourteen years ago)

so far for me the only thing spoiling this is some almost comical singing from hetfield (i've only heard the first two songs).

charlie h, Thursday, 20 October 2011 04:50 (fourteen years ago)

Figured it out -- this is the equivalent of that one Phish album they did with that burnout/performance art buddy of theirs, the Dude of Life or whoever he was.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 20 October 2011 04:51 (fourteen years ago)

"Junior Dad" is genuinely good. And yeah, Hetfield's singing makes this album a lot worse.

A. Begrand, Thursday, 20 October 2011 04:52 (fourteen years ago)

"C'mon James" vs. "Don't forget to check out loureed.com"

Maybe more Danson and Galifianakis would help (Eazy), Thursday, 20 October 2011 04:54 (fourteen years ago)

markers, Thursday, 20 October 2011 04:55 (fourteen years ago)

i can't hate this.

--Pablo, investment banker (get bent), Thursday, 20 October 2011 04:57 (fourteen years ago)

After all the fragments of "Pumping Blood", I like the single momentum of "Mistress Dread".

Maybe more Danson and Galifianakis would help (Eazy), Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:03 (fourteen years ago)

i quite like that dissonant sounding interlude in "pumping blood". it's one of the few parts i've heard so far where the incongruence between vocals and music works for me so far.

charlie h, Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:03 (fourteen years ago)

haha "iced honey" is kind of how i imagined this whole album would sound in light of the "sweet jane" footage.

charlie h, Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:04 (fourteen years ago)

oh my lord james's singing "why do i cheat on me"

markers, Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:07 (fourteen years ago)

YESSSS

markers, Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:07 (fourteen years ago)

this album will inspire me for years

markers, Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:07 (fourteen years ago)

Iced Honey = existential "Egg Cream"

--Pablo, investment banker (get bent), Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:26 (fourteen years ago)

ok, so "frustration" has the best riffs so far.

charlie h, Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:28 (fourteen years ago)

I WANT SO MUCH TO HURT YOU MARRY ME I WANT YOU AS MY WIFE

*drinks entire bar*

--Pablo, investment banker (get bent), Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:28 (fourteen years ago)

so lemme get this straight: on a double album of 69-year-old Lou shout-singing, the vocal criticisms here are directed at JAYMZ.

Not disagreeing. Not complaining. Just (sur)reality-checking...

peruvian guerilla general (zero of the signified), Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:30 (fourteen years ago)

sweet riff on dragon imo

markers, Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:33 (fourteen years ago)

yeah dude, jaymz totally blows on this. i mean lou's lyrics are ridiculous on paper, but he does a pretty commendable job of sounding sincere and making each syllable count. and when his warble rises, all agitated and strangled-like, it actually kind of works, y'know?

charlie h, Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:37 (fourteen years ago)

bartles and jaymz

--Pablo, investment banker (get bent), Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:39 (fourteen years ago)

you can rest your fuckin feet on

markers, Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:39 (fourteen years ago)

this album is irl horrible

puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:39 (fourteen years ago)

but I am probably going to end up understanding it or something

puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:40 (fourteen years ago)

all profound art works that way, uh oh

Chris S, Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:41 (fourteen years ago)

okay i'm on junior dad now, brb in 20

markers, Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:41 (fourteen years ago)

wait, this is . . . pretty?

markers, Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:43 (fourteen years ago)

lou's got to do a lot of work to contend with the chugging riffs, and it's quite refreshing to hear him so riled up.

charlie h, Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:44 (fourteen years ago)

on my fourth listen, pretty much completely sure that this album is incredible

mutant slow drum (BradNelson), Thursday, 20 October 2011 05:48 (fourteen years ago)

"is this that song 'short dad'?"
"'junior dad'?"
"i think that's it."
"maybe it's the movie 'ghost dad'."
