Wandering Boy Poet, Thursday, 13 October 2011 12:46 (fourteen years ago)

This is a really fun record, thanks for the tip.

Ryan, Thursday, 13 October 2011 20:35 (fourteen years ago)

I liked the Ghost album well enough, what I heard of it, but their live performances are where it's at, mang.

Couple videos here. My daughter loved them. "Look at those great costumes, daddy!"

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Friday, 14 October 2011 00:24 (fourteen years ago)

That's a sick joke, right?

Matt M., Friday, 14 October 2011 00:24 (fourteen years ago)

so how is their "Vol 1" record compared to this?

nostormo, Friday, 14 October 2011 00:27 (fourteen years ago)

Re. Ghost...that Ghost album did nothing whatsoever for me, whereas I love the Uncle Acid CDr. Been a lot of references from one to the other, but beware.

Wandering Boy Poet, Friday, 14 October 2011 12:52 (fourteen years ago)

Huh. That link didn't post in my last up there. Let's try this again.

Some Hellfest footage from this year, featuring Ghost.

Matt M., Friday, 14 October 2011 15:14 (fourteen years ago)

It's not bad but I don't see how this is any different from about 9000 other rock albums released since 9-10 years ago.

billstevejim, Saturday, 22 October 2011 00:29 (fourteen years ago)

Svart will reissue the CD starting Nov 16, free shipping. http://www.svartrecords.com/shoppe/725-uncle-acid-and-the-deadbeats-blood-lust-cd.html

Fastnbulbous, Thursday, 3 November 2011 04:51 (fourteen years ago)

billstevejim, if you can name just 10 of those 9000 albums that sound as good as this, I'll be really happy.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Thursday, 3 November 2011 04:59 (fourteen years ago)

^^^ Yeah, me too.

As for the reissue, that didn't take very long, did it? I wonder if those suckers who paid ungodly sums are having a bit of the ol' buyer's remorse?

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Thursday, 3 November 2011 14:11 (fourteen years ago)

Nice! Thanks for the tip - just ordered one.

Re. Ghost...that Ghost album did nothing whatsoever for me, whereas I love the Uncle Acid CDr. Been a lot of references from one to the other, but beware.

My initial reaction is the opposite (love the Ghost, kind of meh on the Uncle Acid), but I agree that liking one doesn't necessarily carry over to the other.

o. nate, Saturday, 5 November 2011 17:57 (fourteen years ago)

didnt say it was. i just meant that non-metal fans who enjoyed the ghost as their one-off might like this album

Thanks for the tip on this. This is wonderful. And I love it in spite of the way it subconsciously makes me think I'm listening to some weird John Lennon album I've never heard before.

Conan The Asshander (Doran), Tuesday, 8 November 2011 00:23 (fourteen years ago)

Noel & Liam could only dream of writing an album this good

(Algerian Goalkeeper) Vs (Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker), Tuesday, 8 November 2011 00:25 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah I keep thinking "damn this is like if the Beatles had 'gone there'"

andrew m., Tuesday, 8 November 2011 01:58 (fourteen years ago)

if only the beatles had been inspired by hendrix and sabbath?

(Algerian Goalkeeper) Vs (Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker), Tuesday, 8 November 2011 02:00 (fourteen years ago)

yeah that

andrew m., Tuesday, 8 November 2011 02:05 (fourteen years ago)

this thing is great. we've been playing it in the car non-stop

Mordy, Tuesday, 8 November 2011 02:10 (fourteen years ago)

Xpost, cable was out forever so I couldn't respond..

well the first one that immediately comes to mind is the self-titled Witch album.. sounds like the exact same band actually.. Also in my opinion The Sword's "Age Of Winters" sounds more exciting than this.

I apologize but I wouldn't be able to name ten of these records, because the majority of them don't really stand out for me as anything noteworthy, but I feel like I've heard this Uncle Acid record 100 times.. It's possible that I need to listen to it more.

"I'm Here To Kill You" is pretty fucking great though..

billstevejim, Wednesday, 9 November 2011 01:55 (fourteen years ago)

"Ritual Knife" too.

billstevejim, Wednesday, 9 November 2011 01:57 (fourteen years ago)

yeah bsj otm about strong similarities with the Witch album, though that album is missing those all-too-crucial John Lennon harmonies

stay tuned for more BLAHBLAHBLAH I'M A PEDANT (Drugs A. Money), Wednesday, 9 November 2011 14:51 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah the vocals on the Witch album were sorta the weak link I thought

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Wednesday, 9 November 2011 15:03 (fourteen years ago)

awesome album! one of my faves of the year.

charlie h, Tuesday, 15 November 2011 01:48 (fourteen years ago)

Their self-released debut, Vol. 1 (2010) is nearly as great as the latest one! The haunted harmonies are already in full force, check out "Witches Garden." Apparently only 20 copies of the first run, ha ha. I imagine it will be re-released by next year, but 'til then, treat yerselves now. Linked from my site, or epicdoommetal.blogspot.com.

one month passes...

hopefully this will do well in the big ilm poll

(Algerian Goalkeeper) Vs (Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker), Monday, 2 January 2012 03:37 (fourteen years ago)

Do they ever play shows? Why is this band so mysterious?

Is it possible that they're another band on the same label playing under a different name?

billstevejim, Monday, 9 January 2012 06:55 (fourteen years ago)

no

Jimmy Riddle Orchestra (Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker), Monday, 9 January 2012 11:26 (fourteen years ago)

found a copy of this at home. it's rubbish

Crackle Box, Monday, 9 January 2012 11:41 (fourteen years ago)

maybe that's a bit harsh, was super excited to hear it. especially after reading this thread a few months ago. just found it flacid. no juju. contrived. like, imagine this is to be a gomez side project or something.

Crackle Box, Monday, 9 January 2012 12:04 (fourteen years ago)

gomez? i think you heard something other than uncle acid

Jimmy Riddle Orchestra (Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker), Monday, 9 January 2012 12:15 (fourteen years ago)

Maybe there's another Gomez

Tom D (Tom D.), Monday, 9 January 2012 12:33 (fourteen years ago)

One was enough

Jimmy Riddle Orchestra (Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker), Monday, 9 January 2012 12:37 (fourteen years ago)

they're my go-to band to describe anything lacking in balls. i probably just need to listen with a different head on. or with different people in the room.

have heard this band purson practicing recently, think rise above are putting their record out, they're sounding amazing

Crackle Box, Monday, 9 January 2012 13:01 (fourteen years ago)

Purson's singer was in Ipso Facto if anyone remembers them

lol indie from the Midlands if that helps

Buster Mottrhymes (DJ Mencap), Monday, 9 January 2012 13:52 (fourteen years ago)

"I'm Here To Kill You" kinda sounds like an improvement on "Take Me Away" by Ween.

found a copy of this at home. it's rubbish
I didn't like it immediately, but Side B is the jam. or track 5-8

xp Yeah someone last night said something similar.. "I bet it's The Shins lmao"

billstevejim, Monday, 9 January 2012 17:46 (fourteen years ago)

Has anyone seen them live yet? Thinking of possibly booking them...

Doran, Monday, 9 January 2012 23:58 (fourteen years ago)

XXXXXP: Are you sure you weren't listening to Wu Lyf? They sound like Gomez.

Doran, Monday, 9 January 2012 23:59 (fourteen years ago)

do you mean has anyone seen Uncle Acid live? p sure they've not played outside the studio, or they did really really early and it sucked so they wanted to get it completely right or something - there's an interview online somewhere that addresses this

Buster Mottrhymes (DJ Mencap), Tuesday, 10 January 2012 08:42 (fourteen years ago)

I wanted to buy this with my HMV Christmas voucher, but it was £21!! WTF?

I want your nose, your shoes and your unicycle (dog latin), Tuesday, 10 January 2012 09:54 (fourteen years ago)

This is all I can listen to this week. I love it. It's the effects they use on the guy's voice; like if John Lennon had decided to make a whole album of She's So Heavy and recorded it in a shed in the middle of the woods.
