r. kelly poll would be great

shiroimarkershoes (some dude), Saturday, 8 October 2011 22:44 (fourteen years ago)

Would be a travesty if "I Believe I Could Fly" didn't take the top spot, though. ilxor continuity demands it.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 8 October 2011 22:49 (fourteen years ago)

the space jam ost won the 90s poll purely on the strength of the monstars' anthem though

shiroimarkershoes (some dude), Saturday, 8 October 2011 22:54 (fourteen years ago)

could i vote 'video where he pees in an underage girls mouth' for worst track? also where do you stand trapped in a closet, vote as 1 or 12 individual tracks? aw hell its cool we have a while to think about these things

Ravaging Rick Rude (a hoy hoy), Sunday, 9 October 2011 06:33 (fourteen years ago)

That video was credited to someone else aiui.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 9 October 2011 06:53 (fourteen years ago)

Annnnnnd we have a winner for Stevie!

ArchCarrier, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 18:37 (fourteen years ago)

> could i vote 'video where he pees in an underage girls mouth' for worst track?

geez like this would be normal and fine if the girl was older?

Everything else is secondary (Lee626), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 21:53 (fourteen years ago)

are you questioning whether it would be normal or whether i'd be cool with it if she was?

Ravaging Rick Rude (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 22:00 (fourteen years ago)

Oh what the hell, sign me up for R Kelly. Somebody follow up with Destiny's Child + solo tracks and we can have an R&B frenzy that month.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 22:01 (fourteen years ago)

Jay-Z wasn't mentioned in this thread? He might be the only rap act (along with Wu) to fit all the criteria

classic status, large catalog, a lot of "unknown" gems (deep cuts?), unpredictable results, a strong following on ilm

I believe this was discussed during a Timbaland tracks poll

gospodin simmel, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 22:51 (fourteen years ago)

i'm glad you phrased it this way, instead of the Beyonce/DC poll idea that'd been thrown around previously -- definitely need to have Kelly Rowland solo in the mix as well

i'd been on the fence about volunteering to do a Jay-Z poll (or doing a different hip hop poll first) but hey, it'd be fun to do it back to back with Kells, best of both worlds-style. sign me up!

some dude, Wednesday, 12 October 2011 00:28 (fourteen years ago)

isn't that supposed to be Jay-Z?

the tax avocado (DJP), Wednesday, 12 October 2011 14:23 (fourteen years ago)

I might have misread, but it's hard to tell. I thought he was signing on to run with Ismael's idea.

Antonio Carlos Broheem (WmC), Wednesday, 12 October 2011 14:25 (fourteen years ago)

I say he does both, back-to-back, just to be on the safe side

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 12 October 2011 15:24 (fourteen years ago)

VOTE IN THE PRODUCERS POLL AND QUIT SAYING 'OH GEE I NEVER SAW THIS, I SURE WOULD HAVE VOTED'

YOU FLAKES!!!!!!!!

Antonio Carlos Broheem (WmC), Wednesday, 12 October 2011 17:21 (fourteen years ago)

I refuse

wrestlingisreal420 (crüt), Wednesday, 12 October 2011 17:22 (fourteen years ago)

Hey thanks! Always had a soft spot for Pulp but only know two albums, so am looking forward to diving into this.

Y Kant Lou Reed (Le Bateau Ivre), Friday, 21 October 2011 14:39 (fourteen years ago)

It'll be pretty awesome! I hope.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Friday, 21 October 2011 14:53 (fourteen years ago)

Have we done a Clash poll? If someone wants to e-mail the particulars of how to run a poll, I'd like to do that at some point. I'm pretty unemployed for the forseeable future.

encarta it (Gukbe), Thursday, 27 October 2011 01:13 (fourteen years ago)

I think we're still under 15 votes, so put on your Pulp records and get listing! I am going to accept ballots until Monday morning!

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 27 October 2011 12:45 (fourteen years ago)

I‘m wondering if it would be worth pushing the Kate Bush poll a couple of spots down the list. When the order was done, no-one expected her to have a new album released in November and it would be a shame to miss including it for the sake of a few weeks.

The multi-talented F.R. David (Billy Dods), Thursday, 27 October 2011 12:59 (fourteen years ago)

Same thought occurred to me, but I didn't say because I really, really want to vote in a Kate Bush poll.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 27 October 2011 13:04 (fourteen years ago)

Hmm.. if more people feel that way, I have no problem with that Billy. It does feel a bit of a shame to finish the poll and a week after she releases a new album. It's not like she releases one every year.

So I can get behind that idea. If others feel the same way do weigh in here please.

Y Kant Lou Reed (Le Bateau Ivre), Thursday, 27 October 2011 14:46 (fourteen years ago)

I would hold off for six months. (Disclaimer: I don't know enough Kate Bush to vote in this one.) Enough time for initial impressions and enthusiasms to settle down and really judge the new albums against the larger body of work.

Martyr McFly (WmC), Thursday, 27 October 2011 14:49 (fourteen years ago)

should be album, singular, obv

D. Boon Pickens (WmC), Thursday, 27 October 2011 14:52 (fourteen years ago)

It's not like she releases one every year

More like two a year, eh?

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 27 October 2011 15:02 (fourteen years ago)

I knew that was coming :)

I don't count Director's Cut as a new album. Or, not an album with new music.

Y Kant Lou Reed (Le Bateau Ivre), Thursday, 27 October 2011 15:22 (fourteen years ago)

Well, in a recent interview, Kate counted both: "It's not often I release two albums in the same year"

Mark G, Thursday, 27 October 2011 15:32 (fourteen years ago)

(last time was the Kick Inside and Lionheart, both 1978)

Mark G, Thursday, 27 October 2011 15:33 (fourteen years ago)

With most longstanding artists I'd've said a new album isn't really going to affect how a poll will play out, but I've finally 'got' Aerial today and it absolutely kills me. I'll have at least three from it on my ballot, and at least three others it'll be very hard to leave off. Noöne told me it was this good. It sounds amazing too - I was right to have her high on my 'producers' list.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 27 October 2011 15:44 (fourteen years ago)

If Kate Bush gets delayed, would a strongo be ready to take us to the bridge?

D. Boon Pickens (WmC), Thursday, 27 October 2011 15:48 (fourteen years ago)

14 ballots for Pulp - 93 songs represented. Bump up those numbers! Where my Britpoppers at?

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 27 October 2011 15:49 (fourteen years ago)

I'm hoping to get my ballot in later today.

encarta it (Gukbe), Thursday, 27 October 2011 16:09 (fourteen years ago)

Yay!
