That is clearly not Britney singing, what's it supposed to be?

I know, right?, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 19:41 (seventeen years ago)

Brainwasher laid own vocals down over the track

Aare-Reuss Böögg (blueski), Tuesday, 16 September 2008 19:43 (seventeen years ago)

hahahahaha

who knows with these computers these days, tiarnan.

Surmounter, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 19:43 (seventeen years ago)

But that definitely isn't her. He says reference track is it like, what she will be singing?

I know, right?, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 19:44 (seventeen years ago)

Obviously it's not her singing, that's why it's a reference track. Lady GaGa is singing.

After The Hurricane (The Brainwasher), Tuesday, 16 September 2008 19:47 (seventeen years ago)

OH

Surmounter, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 19:47 (seventeen years ago)

I have never heard this term reference track. And people were convinced by, like, Anastasia tracks last time, so who knows.

I know, right?, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 19:50 (seventeen years ago)

Reference track for "Radar":

....

After The Hurricane (The Brainwasher), Tuesday, 16 September 2008 19:52 (seventeen years ago)

omg what

Surmounter, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 20:05 (seventeen years ago)

Haha- That last one kinda sounds like Justina.

lou, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 20:17 (seventeen years ago)

I mean jUsTiNa.

lou, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 20:17 (seventeen years ago)

Is that Robyn on the Radar one? Would make sortof sense, she was involved in that and Radar is one of the Bloodshy and Avant tracks.

I know, right?, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 20:22 (seventeen years ago)

In any case, it's pretty stunning how Britney really brought that alive.

I know, right?, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 20:23 (seventeen years ago)

no, it's Candice from The Clutch, who wrote the song...

After The Hurricane (The Brainwasher), Tuesday, 16 September 2008 20:27 (seventeen years ago)

Well, its a great song, but I'm glad Britney sang it.

thx for clip! sounds great. it's so weird, this formula they've came up with for her -- it just seems so feasible. GIMME MORE

A chance hearing of 'Break The Ice' last week has got me listening to this again on a daily basis. What an incredible album, time for a ten-year anniversary vinyl edition please :)

Chewshabadoo, Thursday, 23 February 2017 14:38 (nine years ago)

Jeez, forgotten what "meritless offal" Alex in NYC was.

Chewshabadoo, Thursday, 23 February 2017 14:40 (nine years ago)

Ha -- I misssed this yesterday. My favorite Britney songs. This album dominates.

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 25 February 2017 04:16 (nine years ago)

I went back to this album following this thread revival: it still holds up and sounds great.
I also discovered "get back" on the extended version on Spotify. It's pretty good !

AlXTC from Paris, Saturday, 25 February 2017 10:30 (nine years ago)

not today i'm not! how shall we break this down? deliciously ironical lyricky self awareness? 'stars are blind', 'fighting over me', 'screwed'. blithely wealthy industry appropriation of modern musical trends? 'turn it up', turn you on'. fuck you world and you yes you in particular? 'jealousy'. all britney has over paris is a vague hazy rage and people's insane lust for electro-toss and hacky robodiva crit; paris only covered 'do you think i'm sexy' once, not 12 times.

whh-tshh!

haha note to self only think whh-tshh next time do not type

― r|t|c, Wednesday, October 31, 2007 6:30 AM (nine years ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

In fairness, electro-toss and hacky robodiva crit is 90% of the reason I prefer this to the Paris record.

great thread

the raindrops and drop tops of lived, earned experience (BradNelson), Saturday, 25 February 2017 17:12 (nine years ago)

this thread is weird. remember when ppl cared how much credit britney deserved or didn't deserve for making amazing music? feel like that was a big topic when i was in college. first it went 'britney is talentless hack' then 'even if she makes good music other ppl deserve the credit for doing it for her' then 'well she probably deserves some credit for curating this' then 'well she probably deserves lots of credit bc u know this is her voice and her decisions and her album' then 'fuck u britney is awesome'

Please do not invoke "Being Boiled" when discussing the meritless offal that is Britney Spears. Thanks.

this otm tho. "Piece of Me" compared to this is laughable

AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Saturday, 25 February 2017 17:38 (nine years ago)

Human League have 10 other songs better than the offal known as "Being Boiled."
