Over and Over followed by Honey Hi. Over and Over has a plaintive and nostalgic feel, yet is lyrically straight-forward in a way that sets you up for the madness and disfunction to come. And what can I say, I'm a sucker for McVie.

On Camper's version, I'd go with Storms followed by Tusk. I think that CVB actually played Storms with more soul and tension than Nicks could muster, especially benefitting from the addition of the violin. Their Tusk went into jarring depths of estrangement that Buckingham could only hint at.

From both albums, I like Walk a Thin Line equally.

I think it was Douglas Wolk on the Tusk thread who remarked on the guts it took to open a double album with a meandering ballad. And to think that it's followed by "The Ledge"!

i like "over and over" - it's sad and the guitar is wonderfull but the song itself seems to end too soon, while the instruments just playing forever.(with some "over and over" at the back)too bad,cause it could be perfect,for me at least

Fleetwood's drumming on "Over and Over" -- in the last minute or so -- is absolutely brilliant.

Yeah, the effect is something like "la, la, la, la...wait, dude...what?" The Ledge would benefit from a jew's harp or a washboard. I always picture Lindsey in overalls and a straw hat singing this song.

I also like to imagine it getting played at some frat party back in '79, and when the Ledge comes on they get all pissed, take the record off the turntable, throw it out the window, and listen to "Off the Wall" instead. Everybody gets laid and "Tusk" becomes a "lost classic."

"That's All For Everyone," which I choose for the melody and best vocal overdubbing imaginable. But it barely wins over "Save Me a Place," "Over and Over," and "What Makes You Think You're the One."

No love for "Storms" so I'm voting that, even though, as illustrated here, this is an impossible poll and Tusk is a masterpiece.

"What Makes You Think You're The One" and "Never Forget" should be higher.

I don't think I'm enough of an adult - or a contemporary, for that matter - to understand what people find so special about Sara.

It's got nothing to do with being adult or contemporary -- it's spectral, subversive, obscure.

See, I can't hear the subversion. And I admit this opinion is probably entirely a failing on my behalf, seeing as the consensus seems to favor it overwhelming, but I prefer every Nicks song on the album to Sara.

I think that one of my main complaints is that, for whatever reason, the piano riff sounds to me like the theme song for some sitcom that I can't quite put my finger on.

I'll have to put this one on repeat.

I'm surprised so many people are taken aback by how well "Tusk" did. I have pretty close to zero tolerance for any Fleetwood Mac outside of "Tusk" which I've loved since I was a kid.

"Tusk" is a special song, and I think it holds up well today.

Christine McVie is like the endpoint minimal techno of Fleetwood Mac: you come around to her after you're exhausted/burnt out on everything else and she suddenly sounds like the best thing ever.

Sara??? seriously? I like at least 8 songs on Tusk for than that one (basically all of Lindsey's). I'm sad that "That's Enough for Me" got the goose egg. And "Save Me a Place" with 1 vote? What is this world coming to?

Think About Me, am I the only one squarely annoyed by this song? A lot of it may have to do with the production on it, I don't think Buckingham really got this one. At all.

This song is fabulous, one of those great Christine-Lindsey collabs that melds his talent for subversion with her melodic smarts and sexual heat. I just love how the guitar sounds, especially after the second chorus. John does his trademark rock-steady thumping until he plays a few extra notes as the guitar plays major chords. As for the chorus, it's one of those Bernard Sumner-esque moments of lucidity that looks stupid on paper ("I don't hold you down/Maybe that's why you're around") but accrues more meaning when you don't separate it from the arrangement.

It took me a while to warm to this song (it was the third single too), but now it's probably Christine's best punchy rocker.

I think what is great about that couplet is the fact that both singers sound like they only realise the second line after they've sung the first. It's fabulous.

That said "What Makes You Think You're The One" is the song most cruelly robbed by this poll.
