The Pinefox has a very impressive collection of 45s by legendary footballers such as Glenn Hoddle and Kevin Keegan.

I used to have the 12" of Diamond Lights by Glenn and Chris (Messrs Hoddle and Waddle). I do believe that Ally C has a copy of a single released by Chris Waddle and Basile Boli, which must surely be the greatest thing ever committed to vinyl.

Haven't Vinnie Jones and Ian Wright tried to launch unsuccessful singing careers? (see also Gazza, Terry Venables, Ron Atkinson etc etc)

It's Thinking Fellers Union Local 282, and any resemblence between Messier and that crossdressing Iowan pictured above is just a fluke of genetics. Still a great, great, great band. Hall of Famers in their own right.

I fear that Pat Cash and John McEnroe may have may a record or two (Mac certainly toured with his own band, much to the growing disgust of his wife); Jo Durie certainly did (it was 'orrible) and Jim Courier has played drums with REM. Yannick Noah has had several hits in France.

Bill Monroe & the Bluegrass Shows would promote their shows by showing up in town around noon, challenging all comers to a baseball game, then afterwards saying "tell you what, we licked you/you licked us, but why don't you come down to the dancehall tonight and we'll show you a thing or two about this fiddle music." Could it have worked for Black Flag? Maybe.

i've pawed those McClain records a number of times but I could never bring myself to buy them.

There appear to be three versions of "For the Money" and two versions of, er, "Punani."

Needless to say, this is a must-buy.

I can't believe nobody's mentioning David Ortiz's new reggaeton album (!), featuring somebody called Cynthia Roquez. It's entitled, regrettably, "Bases Loaded." I have a feeling it's the best thing in the world.

It's for real, and it's not very good. Here's a lo-fi RM file, provenance unknown, that I found somewhere. I haven't heard the full-length yet, but if this is the single, I don't have high hopes for the rest, sheer novelty value aside.

Heard Cecil Taylor was a great basketball player, though he was considerably smaller than stereotypical players.

Was HR involved in anything organised athletically or just naturally athletic? Seen footage of those other DC types Fugazi pretty much slamdunking themselves through basketball hoops.
