Not really heard all that much radiohead, tho find them a little silly

Surfin bird I like in theory but in reality not all that keen on that either

coal, Monday, 3 October 2011 08:52 (twelve years ago) link

radiohead would be better if they were sillier. "surfin' bird" is the silliest song ever, and not coincidentally, best.

nik cohn sort of invented this thread in 1969:

In my own life, the Monotones have meant more in one line of "Book of Love" than Dylan did in the whole of [/i]Blonde on Blonde[/i].

(The Other) J.D. (J.D.), Tuesday, 15 April 2014 21:44 (ten years ago) link

It's not that Radiohead is no good, just that "Surfin' Bird" is better.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 15 April 2014 21:57 (ten years ago) link

I can vividly remember the first time I ever heard Surfin' Bird. I think it was on a cartoon or something. At any rate, it freaked me the fuck out, I was dancing uncontrollably, and I recall writing down the lyrics cos I just HAD to remember how thing song went.

Honestly, the results were much closer than I imagined when I clicked on the thread. I didn't vote obviously, but The Trashmen have the advantage in almost any contest.
