I want timbo to remix "walking on the moon" in an al's poll heatrock n/h

D-40, Saturday, 10 September 2011 14:16 (fourteen years ago)

That would be amazing. All about the hi-hat.

I'm digging Ms Jade too. Also, Brandy's Afrodisiac is a really nice album.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 10 September 2011 14:20 (fourteen years ago)

the race for #1 is getting REALLY close, the top four tracks are all within like 12 points of each other right now. likewise the boundary between what gets into the top 50 and what's outside it is really thin, so anyone who votes now could really shake up the results.

some dude, Saturday, 10 September 2011 14:45 (fourteen years ago)

ah k i just remember him bitching about 'are we cuttin' which i notice no one has mentioned here lol

indian carpet vs indian flute

thank got forks showed up (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 10 September 2011 15:47 (fourteen years ago)

it used to really confuse me that Tim & Magoo dropped back to back albums with those 2 songs on it, especially since one song is forgettable and one is so bad i try to forget it

some dude, Saturday, 10 September 2011 16:13 (fourteen years ago)

indian carpet's awesome!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_i_qxQztHRI (Princess TamTam), Saturday, 10 September 2011 16:15 (fourteen years ago)

yeah maybe i need to listen again -- really wish those T&M albums were on Spotify!

some dude, Saturday, 10 September 2011 16:33 (fourteen years ago)

Sigh. Wish I'd known we had 24 + 5 instead of 5 last night. Rushed the final configuration of my ballot.

Not that retinkering would actually make it easier so I think I'll just let it lie, but wish I'd tossed a vote toward Are You Feelin' Me? or Gun Line. This poll might be even harder than Prince was.

we have them in the uk ^_^

just sayin, Saturday, 10 September 2011 20:10 (fourteen years ago)

gotta get my ballot together for this huh!

Euler, Saturday, 10 September 2011 20:14 (fourteen years ago)

my list flags me up as a proper casual timbo fan, no deep cuts whatsoever:
aaliyah 3
nelly f 3
missy 6
jt 2
jay z 3
rihanna 1
bubba 1
tim himself plus keri 1.
really love all the tracks i charted though.

second only to popcorn (or something), Saturday, 10 September 2011 20:20 (fourteen years ago)

one of the missy's might be a bit of a deep cut actually, 'old school joint'? those ecstatic synths still give me shivers.

second only to popcorn (or something), Saturday, 10 September 2011 20:22 (fourteen years ago)

I've been using the phrase 'deep cuts' so much recently. I love it.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 10 September 2011 20:23 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, i keep seeing it on here. it's a great phrase.

second only to popcorn (or something), Saturday, 10 September 2011 20:25 (fourteen years ago)

i love a lot of 'deep cuts' but my list is going to be pretty single-heavy... I mean, those songs are iconic for a reason.

the hardest album track cut for me was "lick shots" and [pick anything off 100% ginuwine]

J0rdan S., Saturday, 10 September 2011 20:27 (fourteen years ago)

this might creep onto my list at no. 50 or something:

the special technique of liveblogging (The Brainwasher), Saturday, 10 September 2011 20:33 (fourteen years ago)

yeah that song is awesome

J0rdan S., Saturday, 10 September 2011 20:40 (fourteen years ago)

Right, voted. Final order kind of arbitrary, but forty tracks and not a dud among 'em. I forget who put the spotify list together, but thanks a million because I couldn't've done it without you.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 10 September 2011 22:02 (fourteen years ago)

Sigh. Wish I'd known we had 24 + 5 instead of 5 last night. Rushed the final configuration of my ballot.

sorry, man, i thought "x date at midnight" universally meant at the END of that date. in any event i am NOT going to be a hardass about people being a little late or wanting to revise their ballots (within reason).

btw JUST now noticed that put "deadling" in the fucking title of this thread, if this thread wasn't so close to being irrelevant i'd beg forks or somebody to change it.

D-40, Sunday, 11 September 2011 02:44 (fourteen years ago)

aight

some dude, Sunday, 11 September 2011 03:23 (fourteen years ago)

28 ballots in now as we come up on the deadline, plus deej's tomorrow and i still have to officially put in mine

some dude, Sunday, 11 September 2011 03:25 (fourteen years ago)

oh plus one, Leee's just came in

some dude, Sunday, 11 September 2011 03:26 (fourteen years ago)

I sent one. Or tried to. Tell me if you don't get it.

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Sunday, 11 September 2011 04:00 (fourteen years ago)

got it! we made it to 30 before midnight!

some dude, Sunday, 11 September 2011 04:05 (fourteen years ago)

Mine's coming late now too. Sorry.

Gred The Flopson (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Sunday, 11 September 2011 04:43 (fourteen years ago)

it's all good. anyone else i should expect to hear from a little late besides spottie and deej?

some dude, Sunday, 11 September 2011 04:55 (fourteen years ago)

i dug up an old timbo best of that i had made a while back and i stuck it in my car tonight -- but it was pretty beat up and on half the songs i was like "... is the CD skipping or is this a next level drum pattern that i never picked up on?"

J0rdan S., Sunday, 11 September 2011 05:15 (fourteen years ago)

got a late ballot from V79 and waiting on at least two more from Spottie and deej -- two songs are currently tied for #1

some dude, Sunday, 11 September 2011 15:24 (fourteen years ago)

Close voting now I say - a tie is a thing worth having imo.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 11 September 2011 15:41 (fourteen years ago)

nahhhh -- keep 'em comin' people

some dude, Sunday, 11 September 2011 17:10 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah -- we need a resolution.

(Sorry.)

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Sunday, 11 September 2011 18:05 (fourteen years ago)

tbh i am waiting to put in my ballot last in part so i can strategically break any ties or move some favorite songs up a little, although the turnout has been so great that it's not like i'll be able to have MUCH influence over the final result even doing that

some dude, Sunday, 11 September 2011 18:08 (fourteen years ago)

ha there's part of 'do u remember' that always sounded like the distortion i'd get when my cell was getting a call & was resting on my discman back when I used to play that cd instead of as mp3s

D-40, Sunday, 11 September 2011 18:13 (fourteen years ago)

xp I always do my ballot first when I'm running a poll, precisely to avoid that temptation. I don't think my conscience could take knowing it's only 'cos of me that J-Lo's #1.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 11 September 2011 18:18 (fourteen years ago)

Three questions:
1. When are you rolling out the results?
2. Top... 100? 50?
3. Hope you glanced over my, uh, haphazard ballot before thanking me for it.

Leee, Lord of Wtfomgham (Leee), Sunday, 11 September 2011 19:10 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i thought about doing my ballot first before any came in, but then i procrastinated and they started rolling in and i was like 'oh well.'

i am definitely doing a top 50, and i am definitely rolling them out between monday and friday this week but i'm not really sure when it'll start (which somewhat depends on how late our last couple stragglers are) or when it'll end, although i'm leaning toward not stretching it over a long 5-day rollout. anyone have any preferences or suggestions in that department?

everyone gets thanked for their ballots, imo the more the better so there is no such thing as bad input to a pollrunner!

some dude, Sunday, 11 September 2011 20:02 (fourteen years ago)

You could 3 days -- 20-20-10. That builds a little drama for the end.

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Sunday, 11 September 2011 20:09 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i like that idea. hopefully i'll know tonight whether that'll start Mon or Tues or Wed. i'm guessing people would generally prefer results get posted during US daytime hours? if that becomes tricky for me any day(s) i may e-mail that day's results to someone to post while i'm busy, if anyone wants to step up for that (maybe forks?).
