In truth I feel uncomfortable voting for it myself - content-wise it's one of the ugliest songs I can think of, or at least the contrast between the awesomeness groove and what they're saying really makes the latter sound worse. Esp. when they get that girl to sing "won't you put it in my mouth".

how are people voting in terms of *timb* v. *the artist*?

for example- i <3 the beat for ayo technology but fifty/jt creep me out (the video really didn't help out) as it basically a song about stalking a woman on the assumption that "she wants it, so gotta give it to her".

so is just voting for the beat alone worth it?

otoh there are times when the beat is a bit non descript and the track is still totally killed, so would you be voting for the artist as opposed to timb?

Trying to get my ballot up to 40 essentials - if it doesn't light me up I'm not gonna vote for it. Shouldn't be a problem with such a prolifically brilliant beatmaker, but there's a lot of Timbaland over the years that I've missed, so yeah, I'm catching up.

tim was one of the most important artists of my formative years, because he was my first 'in' to appreciating hip-hop as a rock kid - this will be A Meaningful Poll for me

fyi all ballots are ranked, there's no "everything equally" option, so if you care about what gets how many points send it to me in that order, if not i'm just counting it in whatever order the ballot is sent to me

i'm kinda with tamtam as this being MEANINGFUL; though i had numerous other earlier ins to hip hop, timbo and missy were hella impactful in college.

just sent in my ballot. the ordering was mostly arbitrary after the top 5 - its really tough to rank this stuff! going through the disco, re-listening to the 03 stuff again was a huge nostalgia bomb. its funny because i remember the murmurings beginning around that point that he had fallen off, but that was a motherfucker of a year for tim

yeah i'm finding a lot of sympathy for later stuff i want to throw votes toward, past 03 even

with five ballots now there are 102 songs with votes, and amazingly only one song with votes from everybody so far (and not a very obvious song at all)
