this re-writing of chris brown's career to make it seem like that vma performance in vegas was anything more than... a vma performance in vegas (in which the whole show was just a huge disaster) is pretty special

THANK YOU SOMEONE FOR FINALLY SAYING THIS. I've always, always looked at his dancing as being much more invested in athletic than aesthetic, and I've been rolling my eyes at the people who praise his dancing for the better part of a decade now.

It really sucks to watch award shows from the West Coast in the internet age. Fuck this three-hour delay shit.

Funniest moment for me was when my sister heard the opening guitar of "No Scrubs" and she immediately goes "Oh no", with her face sinking in glum precognition of what was about to happen.

I can't take the way she vocalizes and something about her whole presentation and persona really just rubs me the wrong way.

if bruno mars wrote anything even remotely as affecting as "someone like you" i would personally send him a hand written letter of apology for talking mad shit about him on the internet for his whole career

Her unpretentiousness seems so contrived to me.

I don't know if Bruno has written a song as good as "Someone Like You" because I can't get 30 seconds into Adele singing it.

The way she sings is just really nails on chalkboard to my ears.

Bruno is total sap and a dodgy songwriter, but a hell of a performer.

And I'm glad they got him to do the Amy tribute instead of going the more obvious route, cause Adele's Sarah Mclachlan-disguised as soulster ass would have butchered it.

yeah he was a decent choice -- the thing about it was that he could do an up tempo song and make more of a fun, celebratory thing than if they had someone singing one of her ballads

it's weird, thinking more about it, thankfully she did a song like "valerie" bcuz they couldn't do a tribute by singing "rehab" obviously, and even "you know i'm no good" and "back in black" would have a weird undertone after her death

Right. In that regard, maybe "Valerie" wasn't as odd of a choice as it looked. Pretty much anything from Back to Black would have either been too down, or too close to the bone, or both, and the stuff from Frank isn't well-known enough. I had assumed it was going to be a medley when it started though.
