Glen Ballard vs RZA

all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Thursday, 11 August 2011 02:05 (fourteen years ago)

Tom Wilson, George Shadow Morton, David Briggs...That'll be a tough one to rein in to a manageable number.

clemenza, Thursday, 11 August 2011 02:30 (fourteen years ago)

I'll do the Kinks!

Mucho! Macho! Honcho!: Turn Off The Dark (C. Grisso/McCain), Thursday, 11 August 2011 02:33 (fourteen years ago)

(the list in progress)

L.P. Hovercraft (WmC), Thursday, 11 August 2011 02:39 (fourteen years ago)

That's a lot of old white men in a row, 16-19 -- if somebody signs up for Madonna or P-Funk or somesuch, there might be some schedule juggling for variety's sake, yeah?

L.P. Hovercraft (WmC), Thursday, 11 August 2011 02:42 (fourteen years ago)

Oh yes, Roger and C. Grisso! Thanks for doing those, can't wait

Iago Galdston, Thursday, 11 August 2011 03:13 (fourteen years ago)

I will do a Depeche Mode poll.

L.P. Hovercraft (WmC), Thursday, 11 August 2011 20:45 (fourteen years ago)

Ok, so I'm going to be unable to do the Kate Bush poll before September 10. Would someone from places 10/11/12/13 be so very kind to swap with me? Pretty please?

I for one am (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 15 August 2011 21:28 (fourteen years ago)

Bring 'producers' forward if possible imo, would be a nice break to a run of classic rock.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 15 August 2011 21:42 (fourteen years ago)

Excellent plan, if Shakey Mo agrees.

L.P. Hovercraft (WmC), Monday, 15 August 2011 21:44 (fourteen years ago)

i volunteer to do either ABBA or the fall (whichever one people would find more interesting), am fine waiting until whenever

L.P. Hovercraft (WmC), Monday, 15 August 2011 23:32 (fourteen years ago)

i'm 13 so i can step in if nobody in line before me wants too -- Timbaland poll would serve the same function of throwing something different into the mix

forkshighwaytopoopon (some dude), Monday, 15 August 2011 23:51 (fourteen years ago)

(the list in progress)

L.P. Hovercraft (WmC), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 00:13 (fourteen years ago)

i don't know how involved you or anyone else is in setting the schedules for the specific things, but should i try to have the Timbaland poll start by/after or end by/after any particular dates? it seems like the voting widow for most of these is around a week but i'd love to open it to more like 2 weeks for people to sort through such a large and diffuse discography.

forkshighwaytopoopon (some dude), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 00:19 (fourteen years ago)

Your discretion. A longer polling period might work perfectly since Armond Ratfucker wants a window without one of these artist poll reveals where he can bring out the jazz album results.

L.P. Hovercraft (WmC), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 00:31 (fourteen years ago)

ah good idea, i'll check w/ him to see what would work best

forkshighwaytopoopon (some dude), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 00:37 (fourteen years ago)

I would really love to run a Fleetwood Mac poll at some point.

Clarke B., Tuesday, 16 August 2011 01:20 (fourteen years ago)

Wow, that would be involved.

L.P. Hovercraft (WmC), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 01:36 (fourteen years ago)

Indeed, but I love them enough to do it, and I think it would be a hugely participated-in and pretty heated one given the general level of love for them on the board...

Clarke B., Tuesday, 16 August 2011 02:34 (fourteen years ago)

the top 50 would really just be 3 albums w/ a few singles thrown in tho

iatee, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 02:39 (fourteen years ago)

I'd be willing to give a thorough listen to the pre-Lindsey/Stevie years, but I still can't guarantee that I wouldn't just send in my Tusk ranking. (j/k mostly) OK, you called it --

L.P. Hovercraft (WmC), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 02:56 (fourteen years ago)

Just a reminder that my sometime-in-2012 was meant to be July or August. I'm guessing you've pushed me back to 2013 by now.

clemenza, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 04:29 (fourteen years ago)

(the list in progress)

Here, have a prime number. I'm sure you'll be able to trade into a time slot that works for you.

L.P. Hovercraft (WmC), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 05:02 (fourteen years ago)

someone do the Cure, please! i would but can't right now.

Bee OK, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 05:35 (fourteen years ago)

also New Order.

Bee OK, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 05:36 (fourteen years ago)

I'll do the Cure, whenever there's a slot.

nate woolls, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 06:43 (fourteen years ago)

Would somebody like to do Radiohead or The Chemical Brothers at some point?

My heart goes out to the people of platitudes (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 07:14 (fourteen years ago)

Some dude, I kiss you! Thanks for helping out!

I for one am (Le Bateau Ivre), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 07:54 (fourteen years ago)

OO yes, someone do The Fall! and swap with Kate Bush / move up the queue!!!

Mark G, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 08:14 (fourteen years ago)

i'm generally more intrigued by the idea of polling bands with lots of albums. i think the fall would work well in this regard, along with, say, sonic youth and possibly stereolab.

while i'm curious about a poll for the cure, they're one of those bands that at this stage i have really fixed views on, so i'd probably be less likely to be informed or enlightened by contrary viewpoints as to what their best songs might be.

charlie h, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 08:37 (fourteen years ago)

I'm not objecting, but Led Zep? Do they have enough tracks?

Mark G, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 08:53 (fourteen years ago)

I believe I counted 84-ish. The small discography will make it interesting, for sure!

L.P. Hovercraft (WmC), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 13:07 (fourteen years ago)

ha, I was wondering for some time if there's a need for a RH poll! doing polls sure looks like fun, I might give it a try.

V79, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 13:36 (fourteen years ago)

I'll have to trade with someone next summer. But it'll have to be with Paul Simon or the Kinks--I've got a prime number, and I do not plan on losing that.

clemenza, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 13:56 (fourteen years ago)

Considering quitting ILX, so I should bow out of doing this to be safe.

third-generation stripper (Eric H.), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 14:11 (fourteen years ago)

;_;

L.P. Hovercraft (WmC), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 15:17 (fourteen years ago)

eric, no!

i think i will do ABBA, just bcz they have a less, uh, unwieldy discography and the variation in results might be more interesting (assuming people vote for non-single tracks which they SHOULD)

clams cassingle (donna rouge), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 17:21 (fourteen years ago)

I would hereby like to lay claim to a Who songs poll. And I even have a title: "Hope I die before I get POLLED."

So this would be in...about a year?

shake it, shake it, sugary pee (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 17:25 (fourteen years ago)

When I get to Neil, I'm taking a solemn oath here and now not to call it "Heart of Polled." (The Who title really works, though.)

clemenza, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 17:28 (fourteen years ago)

Not quite a year, I'd say. xp

Will somebody step in to do the Stevie Wonder poll at its current position?

L.P. Hovercraft (WmC), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 17:28 (fourteen years ago)

"Hope I die before I get POLLED."

*slow clap*

Does that mean mine'll have to be Common PeoPOLL?

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 18:26 (fourteen years ago)

also New Order.

― Bee OK, Tuesday, August 16, 2011 8:36 AM (14 hours ago) Bookmark

I would love to see a New Order + Joy Division + side projects all covered in a single poll (i.e. NO + JD + The Other Two + Electronic + Revenge + Monaco + etc). I'm worried that my spreadsheet skills aren't up to snuff or else I'd volunteer to conduct the poll ...

NoTimeBeforeTime, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 20:39 (fourteen years ago)

was thinking an XTC one would be good, but maybe not enough voters to warrant it?

no one cares about P-Funk, obviously

that mellow wash of meh (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 20:44 (fourteen years ago)

no prob!

forkshighwaytopoopon (some dude), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 21:33 (fourteen years ago)

Anyone else here already mentally dreaming up the cleverest pun on the word "POLL" for each band on the list?

("Hope I Die Before I Get Polled" is awesome BTW !!)

buzza, Wednesday, 17 August 2011 04:46 (fourteen years ago)

I'd vote in an XTC poll!

ColinO, Wednesday, 17 August 2011 06:23 (fourteen years ago)

Census Polling Over Time!

(I win!)
