I took "a voice inside my head" as a way of saying "you're becoming a distant memory" - I have a hard time parsing "don't waste your time with me, you're already the voice inside my head" - "the" there sort of presupposes previous discussion/mention of said voice, but there isn't any - ppl are like "what voice are you talking about?" but there's no explanation forthcoming - idk Tom de, not hating, but I gotta say sloppy work man

the lack of a second person plural in english gives this song extra depth

like - I can't really get a coherent reading of "don't waste your time with me, you're already the voice inside my head" - you have to really flog the shit out it to force it to make sense - with "a," it's still a little tricky but do-able - especially when the person being addressed is presumably already absent ("I miss you") and not wasting any of her time with Tom de, nor intending to - we could argue that the incoherence of the line reflects the confused inner state of the speaker but everybody knows that's a bullshit way to read stuff unless there are many other cues - I can get down with "the unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley" but that's probably just because I like the imagery

"you're already the voice inside my head" means that she's taken permanent lodging in his head, 'i still carry you around' etc, or his conscience has been replaced with his expectation of her, so "don't waste your time" is a warning that he's obsessed but also a resignation to the fact that he hasn't really lost her and he doesn't need the ~real~ her

hoppus on music is the most pathetic show in the history of television

lol i had no idea it was actually called "hoppus on music." it sounds like a column from the saturday evening post or something.

I assumed it was "a" but "the" is much, much better. Kinda fits in with my theory that AVA was about taking a savior complex that developed around a specific troubled person ("the voice") and changing the target to be all troubled people.
