the rabid hatred that song has inspired (esp on the internet) is amazing, i am actually impressed, especially considering it is doing really well. i luv songs that demand attn from tha h8rz

teledyldonix, Thursday, 4 August 2011 02:08 (fourteen years ago)

i argued with her PR about releasing it as the lead single after hearing the other songs, he was like...none of the others would have got anywhere near the sheer attention "swagger jagger" has. idk, i think it was a given it'd chart high whatever they released, even diana vickers managed a no 1 off the back of x factor.

Tim F, Saturday, 20 August 2011 03:27 (fourteen years ago)

thanks! honorable mention to deej for partially spurring the idea with all those "this yo gotti song is a BIG DEAL, it has 2 million hits on youtube" arguments

some dude, Saturday, 20 August 2011 03:29 (fourteen years ago)

just read it, yay al!

Titles on Demi Lovato's new album include "You're My Only Shorty", with feature appearances from the likes of Jason DeRulo and Iyaz.

uberweiss, Wednesday, 24 August 2011 00:49 (fourteen years ago)

it's kinda weird how she's apparently sticking with the R&B direction but the lead single is "Skyscraper"

some dude, Wednesday, 24 August 2011 01:01 (fourteen years ago)

JoJo's new song is DOING IT FOR ME.

dayo, Monday, 29 August 2011 18:46 (fourteen years ago)

uberweiss, Monday, 29 August 2011 19:57 (fourteen years ago)

good lookin out

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 31 August 2011 02:43 (fourteen years ago)

BOOOOORING

should've gone with "let me down"

uberweiss, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 04:19 (fourteen years ago)

yes this is really not good at all

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 31 August 2011 04:20 (fourteen years ago)

She's better than this Bruno Mars/Ryan Tedder soundalike crap (I had to check to make sure neither of them wrote it—turns out it's "Ester Dean/Brett James/Brian Kennedy").

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 04:27 (fourteen years ago)

Hey that IS a cover of Elvis Crespo, no wait, well not a cover, but the reference is there. I don't like this though, unsurprisingly.

_Rudipherous_, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 04:27 (fourteen years ago)

(I'd be willing to be Elvis Crespo's "Suavemente" is the most club/radio played merengue song worldwide, since it came out in the late-90s.)

_Rudipherous_, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 04:38 (fourteen years ago)

kelly single is forgettable, unfortunately

markers, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 05:02 (fourteen years ago)

"moves like jagger" would be pretty great if it wasn't built around adam levine singing the phrase "moves like jagger" dozens of times

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:23 (fourteen years ago)

oh and add this to the list of flo-rida singles that i begrudgingly enjoy

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2ooeJfckok

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:24 (fourteen years ago)

jojo single is disappointingly regressive considering "marvin's room (can't do better)" is one of my trax of the year

ditto kelly c considering the stuff that leaked last month

come ON, pop stars, we know you can do better

lex pretend, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:25 (fourteen years ago)

why would anyone's remix of a Drakesadpanda anthem be anyone's track of the year

lil dawg (some dude), Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:27 (fourteen years ago)

Because she makes it genuinely affecting and narrated by an interesting character instead of fucking Drake.

Somewhere between Fergie and Jesus (Alex in Montreal), Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:35 (fourteen years ago)

man, I thought "Moves Like Jagger" would die ignominiously after its early peak in July; now it's played three times an hour.

a 'catch-all', almost humorous, 'Jeez' quality (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:39 (fourteen years ago)

i still haven't heard it on the radio, which is weird because i at least check in w/ the local top 40 station pretty regularly

lil dawg (some dude), Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:40 (fourteen years ago)

i've heard it once on the radio, which i don't listen to too much these days, but still: once

markers, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:41 (fourteen years ago)

why would anyone's remix of a Drakesadpanda anthem be anyone's track of the year

great lyrics, great performance, no trace of drake

lex pretend, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:42 (fourteen years ago)

i hear the Levine/Travie collab more (xpost)

lil dawg (some dude), Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:43 (fourteen years ago)

i know i know, i'm alone in thinking the Noah "40" Shebib underwater moping chamber sound is almost as loathsome as the vocals Drake applies to it

lil dawg (some dude), Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:44 (fourteen years ago)

i don't think i'd stan for that style of production but it's a bit too malleable to either love or hate as a thing - right song/singer, it comes into its own, wrong song/singer, it's execrable and lazy

lex pretend, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:48 (fourteen years ago)

"marvin's room" is in my top 10/15 tracks this year

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:49 (fourteen years ago)

yeah her version of "marvin's room" is great. i have to say though i am really impressed by "disaster" as well despite the fact that it follows the jojo-hit template very closely.

kelly clarkson's single :(

teledyldonix, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:50 (fourteen years ago)

funnily enough right after posting that i went to run an errand, and in the car one of the D.C. R&B stations was playing the JoJo version (or rather a blend of it and the Drake version). it's aight but c'mon. j0rdan calling Bieber's version of "Trust Issues" interesting prompted the same feeling in me -- like wholesome-looking young white folks doing versions of dark debauched songs by rap stars is an idea that's older than YouTube and surely has been bled dry by the last few years of webcam kids.

lil dawg (some dude), Wednesday, 31 August 2011 19:19 (fourteen years ago)

i was calling the bieber version of "trust issues" "interesting" in the lightest sense

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 31 August 2011 19:20 (fourteen years ago)

i did have to listen to it just to see if he says "bitches" 50 times like the Drake version but he changes it to "women"

lil dawg (some dude), Wednesday, 31 August 2011 19:26 (fourteen years ago)

i actually heard jojo's "marvin's room" before i'd heard the drake song (and before i knew it was a remix), i just thought it was a super-good song

lex pretend, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 19:26 (fourteen years ago)

ditto

surm, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 19:31 (fourteen years ago)

also her version is more dark and debauched, or at least strung out and medicated, than his

lex pretend, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 19:32 (fourteen years ago)

i'm just saying you can do better

lil dawg (some dude), Wednesday, 31 August 2011 19:35 (fourteen years ago)

why does everyone hate drake?

surm, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 19:36 (fourteen years ago)

that's a complicated question
