RML (Recombinant Media Labs)is in SOMA...they had tomas fehlmann, speedy j, deadbeat...but i'm pretty sure this show is at their old digs near hunters point.

BATTAGS, Saturday, 19 May 2007 04:32 (nineteen years ago)

Okay I've been to the Hunter's Point digs (saw Deadbeat and and and somewhere not memorable. . . Fehlmann. . . no. . . eh either way.) That Hunter's Point location is a bitch to get to. Still Badawi and Kode-9 sounds nice.

Monolake?

Alex in SF, Saturday, 19 May 2007 04:39 (nineteen years ago)

man, i hope people come out to that mobilee show! i'll be there.

pshrbrn, Saturday, 19 May 2007 06:17 (nineteen years ago)

I just got a free ticket to the Bjork show so I will be there. :)

Alex in SF, Saturday, 19 May 2007 07:11 (nineteen years ago)

I've been to the address of the Mobilee show before, I think for a Legowelt / Orgue Electronique show? Anyway, Mobilee is a label I'm particularly enjoying right now, especially the GummiHz stuff... the sound design is so exacting, and it really sucks the air out of the room at volume. Submit a review, anyone who goes?
(also interested to hear if Bjork is continuing to use that visual/physical interaction instrument that was part of her show at Coachella).

DJ Logan5, Sunday, 20 May 2007 02:03 (nineteen years ago)

So, I was leaving town a little over a week ago and looked over to see Kenny Larkin checking in to my hotel! My timing sucks.

mh, Sunday, 20 May 2007 05:33 (nineteen years ago)

Thanks for letting us know about Pole and Kode 9, BATTAGS! Very, very cool.

How was Mobilee last night? Traffic was awful getting back to SF and I didn't end up making it to the show...

"also interested to hear if Bjork is continuing to use that visual/physical interaction instrument that was part of her show at Coachella."

Yes, Damian Taylor was fiddling with a Lemur and what (from a distance) resembled a Dance Dance Revolution floor pad, but turned out to be more like a cross between a crazy warlock's psychic apparatus and some navy sonar pulsing thing. It looked absurdly cool...

The show was very enjoyable. I do pity poor Chris Corsano whose virtuosic subtlety is somewhat wasted on the big Bjork spectacle...

It was a very good show. I even quited liked Joanna Newsome as long as I didn't catch a glimpsed of her contrived looking facial machinations while she sang.

Alex in SF, Monday, 21 May 2007 01:14 (nineteen years ago)

the smashing pumpkins are doing 16 shows at the fillmore.

The Macallan 18 Year, Monday, 21 May 2007 01:16 (nineteen years ago)

man, i hope people come out to that mobilee show! i'll be there.

ack, can't believe I missed you. went out for this show, but had to leave early, and didn't read you were there until too late!

Dominique, Monday, 21 May 2007 02:32 (nineteen years ago)

dom, were you at mobilee? holy fuck. i was there but for a very brief while, i think i split by about 12:30 or so.

pshrbrn, Monday, 21 May 2007 03:44 (nineteen years ago)

heheh, Tommy Ramone's bluegrass duo is at Bottom of the Hill on June 3.

I will be
among you next week.

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 15:35 (nineteen years ago)

Patrick Wolf @ Cafe Du Nord was quite nice last night. Emphasis on -quite-

Couple of costume changes, lots of banter, nice mix of old and new tunes. Fairly low key and that was good for a Monday night. He's playing there again tonight for the 21+ crowd. His fans are a bit like Tori Amos fans, so beware of that.

The cluster of bears near swaying along to The Magic Position were cute.

DJ Logan5, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 18:15 (nineteen years ago)

Hmmn well assuming that the show on Thursday is in the same place there is no way I am going. That location isn't public transportation-able.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 18:18 (nineteen years ago)

new T-line dude! (j/k)

Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 18:33 (nineteen years ago)

Goethe*s Elective Affinities, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 21:15 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah I've been there. It's a nice space, it's just a LONG LONG LONG way from where I live, T-line or no.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 21:17 (nineteen years ago)

Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 21:20 (nineteen years ago)

What the hell was that Star Wars-meets-Fizhauer craziness in the middle of Michael Mayer's set? It was fucking amazing!

Berkeley World Music fest this weekend... anyone see anyone they know/like?

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 16:03 (nineteen years ago)

all looks pretty good. Michael Masley is a local treasure, he's been playing Bay Area streets with his bowed hammer dulcimer for 20+ years, he plays for hours, almost anyone who's lived here for a while has seen him

Milton Parker, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 17:04 (nineteen years ago)

cool. I actually have found an Arcade Fire tkt seller for Saturday, will probably succumb...!

1015 enter da meatmarkettt??

The Macallan 18 Year, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 03:33 (nineteen years ago)

that looks totally suspect. i bet he'll just play house all night. boring.

open mind is open again (well, it officially opens next week). new location next to lucky 13

jaxon, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 17:30 (nineteen years ago)

no shit! that is good news

Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 17:39 (nineteen years ago)

It looks rather suspect to me too, even though I find myself intrigued by what's been dubbed beardo disco. As for "da meatmarkettt," 1015 may yet redeem itself - I was pretty surprised to see that it's booked dubstep for later this month...

Goethe*s Elective Affinities, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:20 (nineteen years ago)

Great news about Open Mind! Although now it is dangerously close to my house.

How about BPM records?

dfkl, Friday, 15 June 2007 23:12 (nineteen years ago)

the godfather of disco (film about mel cheren tomorrow)

tricky, Saturday, 16 June 2007 03:46 (nineteen years ago)

Woo hoo! That is good news about Open Mind!

Alex in SF, Saturday, 16 June 2007 03:51 (nineteen years ago)

i talked to the guy who owned BPM (Victor?) when it was shutting down and that's gone forever. in his old location in prime hayes valley is a clothing store run by his wife. and that one on the middle of the hill just wasn't working out for him. he realized music retail stores were a bust and closed shop. i think he organizes gigantic rock festivals in japan now.
