Guess I'm not that hardcore of a Prince freak - my ballot was mostly hits or well-known album tracks. I do have almost all of his albums, but I probably listen to The Hits/The B-Sides more than any of them 'cept maybe Dirty Mind. I think it does more to establish his genius and listens better than any of his regular studio albums. Even after about a decade as a fan, I'm still getting my head around Sign of the Times though several of its tracks made my ballot. That might actually have something to do with the fact that's it's one of the worst-mastered CDs I've ever heard. Should probably just spring for the vinyl, but I need to get a record player first.

Knee-jerking in the laziest and least interesting way possible from what I can see. Prince is pretty much back-to-front indie credible from what I can see.

Parade got stiffed. Love every song on that record.

When You Were Mine is great and all but it feels more like a cool new-wave one-off than essence-of-Prince. An odd number one. Fun poll though.

i'll say it again...cos he hasn't released a truly decent album in nearly 25 years he really is in danger of being forgotten as possibly the greatest musician of the last fifty years...that 78-88 period is unbelevable...as well as all the singles,albums and b sides there's all the stuff that was unrealeased and given away to other artists...I still cant get my head round how he did it and toured excessively at the same time and made films and slept ate and...well maybe he didnt do a poo for 15 years...thats maybe why he got a little kranky...
