ah it's by that kid that did 'whip my hair'

excellent producer!

r|t|c, Tuesday, 2 August 2011 11:05 (fourteen years ago)

i don't know who produced what on the album but i get a real lil mama vibe from it - kind of like someone noticed how much potential there was in that whole teenpop-rap thing despite lil mama doing nothing, and that it'd be perfect to shift on to cher. the other really amazing one i've heard is "grow up" which is summery and exuberant like "superhero" and has lol busta on it. "dub on the tracks" is hilarious lolstep with ghetts and dot rotten but iirc it kind of works anyway cuz it's so ridic (only heard it in PRs' offices)

lex pretend, Tuesday, 2 August 2011 11:08 (fourteen years ago)

oh yeah if she'd got through to the x factor final she'd have done boom! shake the room/whip my hair

lex pretend, Tuesday, 2 August 2011 11:08 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah that's really great. makes the fact "Swagger Jagger" is an existing thing even more o_0

clips collated here if anyone else is interested

agree with the lil mama vibe but i will have to have a think about how much potential there is in it

r|t|c, Tuesday, 2 August 2011 11:18 (fourteen years ago)

silly mid-off already sounds like a uk rapper name come to think of it

r|t|c, Tuesday, 2 August 2011 11:21 (fourteen years ago)

i kinda like swagger jagger :(((

teledyldonix, Tuesday, 2 August 2011 15:12 (fourteen years ago)

i don't think it's irredeemable - beat is secretly great in a basic post-"pon de floor" way, middle 8 is just straight-up great - but the clementine interpolation just needs to not exist, it's so cringey, and the verses are waaaay underdone (even with clementine it could've been salvaged by verses with, just...more words in them)

has been very annoying having to say "yes but she has better songs than swagger jagger i promise" so much recently, very pleased this leaked.

lex pretend, Tuesday, 2 August 2011 15:19 (fourteen years ago)

wow that is awesome! smh @ them releasing "swagger jagger" when they had THAT.

lol swagger jagger topping the midweek charts o_O

r|t|c, Wednesday, 3 August 2011 20:45 (fourteen years ago)

the rabid hatred that song has inspired (esp on the internet) is amazing, i am actually impressed, especially considering it is doing really well. i luv songs that demand attn from tha h8rz

teledyldonix, Thursday, 4 August 2011 02:08 (fourteen years ago)

i argued with her PR about releasing it as the lead single after hearing the other songs, he was like...none of the others would have got anywhere near the sheer attention "swagger jagger" has. idk, i think it was a given it'd chart high whatever they released, even diana vickers managed a no 1 off the back of x factor.

lex pretend, Thursday, 4 August 2011 07:08 (fourteen years ago)

Tim F, Saturday, 20 August 2011 03:27 (fourteen years ago)

thanks! honorable mention to deej for partially spurring the idea with all those "this yo gotti song is a BIG DEAL, it has 2 million hits on youtube" arguments

some dude, Saturday, 20 August 2011 03:29 (fourteen years ago)

just read it, yay al!

markers, Saturday, 20 August 2011 03:32 (fourteen years ago)

J0rdan S., Saturday, 20 August 2011 03:50 (fourteen years ago)

Titles on Demi Lovato's new album include "You're My Only Shorty", with feature appearances from the likes of Jason DeRulo and Iyaz.

uberweiss, Wednesday, 24 August 2011 00:49 (fourteen years ago)

it's kinda weird how she's apparently sticking with the R&B direction but the lead single is "Skyscraper"

some dude, Wednesday, 24 August 2011 01:01 (fourteen years ago)

JoJo's new song is DOING IT FOR ME.

uberweiss, Monday, 29 August 2011 15:59 (fourteen years ago)

wow i really like it. i wonder who the songwriters and producers were.

teledyldonix, Monday, 29 August 2011 17:13 (fourteen years ago)

ppl really want this jojo thing to happen huh

J0rdan S., Monday, 29 August 2011 17:23 (fourteen years ago)

anyway, good song

J0rdan S., Monday, 29 August 2011 17:23 (fourteen years ago)

sounds like a jojo song

dayo, Monday, 29 August 2011 18:40 (fourteen years ago)

now I have to imagine your penis (DJP), Monday, 29 August 2011 18:41 (fourteen years ago)

dayo, Monday, 29 August 2011 18:46 (fourteen years ago)

uberweiss, Monday, 29 August 2011 19:57 (fourteen years ago)

markers, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 02:43 (fourteen years ago)

good lookin out

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 31 August 2011 02:43 (fourteen years ago)

BOOOOORING

should've gone with "let me down"

uberweiss, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 04:19 (fourteen years ago)

yes this is really not good at all

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 31 August 2011 04:20 (fourteen years ago)

She's better than this Bruno Mars/Ryan Tedder soundalike crap (I had to check to make sure neither of them wrote it—turns out it's "Ester Dean/Brett James/Brian Kennedy").

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 04:27 (fourteen years ago)

so the nayer solo career is happening, and here is the debut single, and it's...GOOD

Hey that IS a cover of Elvis Crespo, no wait, well not a cover, but the reference is there. I don't like this though, unsurprisingly.

_Rudipherous_, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 04:27 (fourteen years ago)

(I'd be willing to be Elvis Crespo's "Suavemente" is the most club/radio played merengue song worldwide, since it came out in the late-90s.)

_Rudipherous_, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 04:38 (fourteen years ago)

kelly single is forgettable, unfortunately

markers, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 05:02 (fourteen years ago)

"moves like jagger" would be pretty great if it wasn't built around adam levine singing the phrase "moves like jagger" dozens of times

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:23 (fourteen years ago)

oh and add this to the list of flo-rida singles that i begrudgingly enjoy

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2ooeJfckok

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:24 (fourteen years ago)

jojo single is disappointingly regressive considering "marvin's room (can't do better)" is one of my trax of the year

ditto kelly c considering the stuff that leaked last month

come ON, pop stars, we know you can do better

lex pretend, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:25 (fourteen years ago)

why would anyone's remix of a Drakesadpanda anthem be anyone's track of the year

lil dawg (some dude), Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:27 (fourteen years ago)

Because she makes it genuinely affecting and narrated by an interesting character instead of fucking Drake.

Somewhere between Fergie and Jesus (Alex in Montreal), Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:35 (fourteen years ago)

man, I thought "Moves Like Jagger" would die ignominiously after its early peak in July; now it's played three times an hour.

a 'catch-all', almost humorous, 'Jeez' quality (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:39 (fourteen years ago)

i still haven't heard it on the radio, which is weird because i at least check in w/ the local top 40 station pretty regularly

lil dawg (some dude), Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:40 (fourteen years ago)

i've heard it once on the radio, which i don't listen to too much these days, but still: once

markers, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:41 (fourteen years ago)

why would anyone's remix of a Drakesadpanda anthem be anyone's track of the year

great lyrics, great performance, no trace of drake

lex pretend, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:42 (fourteen years ago)

i hear the Levine/Travie collab more (xpost)

lil dawg (some dude), Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:43 (fourteen years ago)

i know i know, i'm alone in thinking the Noah "40" Shebib underwater moping chamber sound is almost as loathsome as the vocals Drake applies to it

lil dawg (some dude), Wednesday, 31 August 2011 18:44 (fourteen years ago)
