really? i feel like there's not much controversy about his best/not best material compared to a lot of these other artists.

having just heard arthur for the first time, and weeping with joy that i have such things left to discover, i nominate the kinks for a future poll--isn't 99% of their catalogue, at least the first ten years, like all buried treasure?

Ismael, are you using the .xls posted up-thread to gather and process votes? I still need to figure out what the best way of doing that is, for my KB poll.

Hm, I dunno - I might just do it by hand, that worked fine on the football poll. I'm setting myself a quick turnaround target too, so learning a new system may not be wise.

That would probably bring in a lot more ballots than a Stevie Wonder poll, too.

I'd love for someone to do a "Motown" poll or some other interesting label (Warp? Sub Pop? Stax?).

i also talked about doing a jungle/dnb poll on the idm thread and got some positive responses, but that might be enough of a niche thing that we don't need to include it in this running order? if so, though, let me know.

I think (but y'all correct me if I'm misreading this) that huge overarching themes/genres like dance music are free to tackle outside this lineup of smaller polls. For example, Armond Ratfucker is currently doing post-WWII jazz albums outside this thread's chronology. "Dance Music" sounds like a huge enough thing that it would need a period of nominations before the voting.

I'd quite like to go in the other direction and try doing a write-in for one album. Imagine the complaints. It'd need to be a hell of an album to pull it off though.

why would you want to restrict a James Brown poll to just the singles? that's crazy.

haha well i meant "tracks," not "singles" per se. and because all the other polls have been limited to tracks!

may do a sub-poll of top five jb-sampling tracks.

xps I mean instead of polling a band, polling Exile On Main Street or Tusk or something. Ballots of five. NB I am NOT volunteering for this.

I don't understand how a poll would include both best album AND best single, like why would you mix those two results together
