I've gotr the beginning of my way running through my head as 'and in the end' but I'm not sure that's the start.
Got a couple of other MOR tracks running through my head and hopefully I'll identify them shortly.Plus a Pink Floyd and a Beatles.
Cool eh?
― Stevolende, Thursday, 30 July 2015 18:12 (nine years ago) link
So maybe I'm confusing the beginning of My way with the beatles track?
and seemed to be Cormac McCarthy's favourite word didn't it?

Ha, no way, I've always heard this as "and i quietly count with the gun"
― MaresNest, Thursday, 30 July 2015 18:42 (nine years ago) link
you're possibly right, and i certainly prefer your version as a opening line. i wasn't really sure so checked with some dodgy lyrics website. 'with her gone' does fit in with the whole theme of the woman 'stealing away' etc though. in conclusion, i'm still none the wiser

"And I Knew" from the new Robert Forster album, which starts with those words.
Ashamed I forgot about Idlewild's really lovely "Take Me Back to the Islands," which begins "and the moon brings us back." (could also have mentioned it on the "songs that sound like other songs" thread, per its strong echoes of Lemonheads' "My Drug Buddy")
