Don't know all those releases. Amplifier Worship is great, so I'll probably go with that. Altar has some good stuff and some bad stuff. If I remember correctly I like the last two tracks on Altar a lot, but the "pretty one" ("Sinking Belle"?) I think I could do without, or at least without the vocals/piano. I've only heard snippets of Pink, but I'd like to hear more.

They're playing in DC in a week or two, not sure if I'm gonna see them though.

Is Rainbow worth checking out if I really like Pink (not so much Altar)?

It really depends on my mood, but I ended up going with Akuma no Uta (most likely only because its the most recent I've listened to). Rainbow, Altar, Pink, Amplifier Worship, and Absolutego could all have been argued for.

saw them last night in SF with Kurihara - they were pretty good but seemed thrown off by some lame technical difficulties early in the show, never seemed to regain their footing after the first song

If Pink wins this, then you can fuck right off. It's a good album, I like it, but it's nowhere near their best. NOWHERE!

Archive release is awesome but it's live recordings. So I wouldn't vote for it, but I do play my cds often. They go for $200+ but I wouldn't part with them.

Sorry, but "Dronevil" on vinyl played at a volume that is too loud for anything beats "Amplifier Worship." Maybe it was just the speakers, though.

btw there's TWO different versions of Vein (I have both) 1 of them is a 2 track "noise" version" and the other is a 12 track "hardcore" version.
The 2 track was mailed only to those people who live outside N America.
So that it would take a week for people to find out that Boris had screwed everyone over by making 2 different versions (i think there's 1100 of the US version and 400 of the Euro. I got lucky and got mine for what my friend paid for his which was the standard price. It's handy knowing people who can get me ltd us only stuff. This albumw as $100+ on ebay at the time.

oh and sorry for pissing off all you *Pink fans. I think I've been on the Southern Lord board for too long!

The 2 albums with Merzbow are missing too. But the live album is shit anyway. Terrible sound on it. I doubt anyone would've voted for either of them anyway. I don't see Vein getting (m)any.
The album with Sunn o))) I do enjoy a lot yet there's plenty who don't so I'll be interested to see if it gets any votes.

Try Heavy Rocks then. But really, the early stuff is untouchable. They've released so much in the past few years the quality control has suffered.
There has been lots of ep's in the past year. Another lp with merzbow is out next week I think.

There's a bunch of Boris threads so I'm not sure the most appropriate one, but it's been bumped most recently so...

I mentioned this in the Rolling Metal thread, but the new collaboration with Merzbow, 2R0I2P0 is easily one of the best things I've heard from them in a long time. In addition to some other songs, they take on some songs from LOVE & EVOL, and it really hits on the strengths of both. There is a moment during "EVOL" where Merzbow's got a bed of his usual noise grinding away and a soaring guitar solo starts to pierce through, it's great.

Yeah agreed -- a thrilling album.

I'm genuinely shocked by how good it is. I feel like they've been increasingly hit or miss in recent years and that my days of being absolutely wowed by them were in the past, but happily proven wrong with this one.
