I am more offended by this song than anything Chris Brown has ever done.

Gigantic, novelty pyramid studs of violence! Golden safety pins of aggression!
I don't like this guy either, but dude you're reaching on this one. And that pink bow tie and derp face aren't exactly screaming "I beat bitches up!"
― Spinspin Sugah, Friday, 15 July 2011 20:21 (fourteen years ago)
he looks like a boxer
it wasn't my wardrobe decision
― J0rdan S., Friday, 15 July 2011 20:24 (fourteen years ago)
yeah the kinda weird pimp formalwear look is totally "dress up" boxer clothes imo, like i bet bernard hopkins wears vests and shit
― van ingalls wilder (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 15 July 2011 20:39 (fourteen years ago)
(minus the safety pins and bowtie)
What about that outfit says "pimp formalwear"? Just wondering outloud, but if a Jonas brother or a Bieber wore the same thing....yadayadayada
― Spinspin Sugah, Friday, 15 July 2011 20:50 (fourteen years ago)
the only thing that says "pimp formalwear" about that outfit is the pink bowtie; if that vest was teal we would be "in business" (so to speak)

i agree that it kinda sounds like that but you seriously weren't walking around believing that was the actual lyric were you!? that's even weirder than referring to brass knuckles as 'gloves'
― some dude, Saturday, 16 July 2011 01:35 (fourteen years ago)
okay
first of all, i thought it was completely plausible that he was calling his dad "gay" as an insult. i wasn't walking around thinking he had just dropped some deep biographical "my momma kissin a girl" info
two, he's wearing gloves, not brass knuckles
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 16 July 2011 01:39 (fourteen years ago)
brass knuckles would be way worse btw!!! if you look at his right hand you can see that the studs cover his whole hand
also i originally thought he was wearing brass knuckles!! http://twitter.com/#!/jordansarge/status/91944593192521728

like I probably woulda lolled at it if I had seen it live, and I still basically "agree" with it, but watching that video after seeing all these ppl praising it made me legitimately uncomfortable
― Aphex Twin... in my vagina... with the revolver? (bernard snowy), Monday, 22 August 2011 15:49 (fourteen years ago)
well then you kinda need to rethink yr priorities here imo - this is an unrepentant dickhead who can just soak up how much everybody hates his ass now, when he decides to grow up it'll stop

― Aphex Twin... in my vagina... with the revolver? (bernard snowy), Monday, 22 August 2011 15:51 (fourteen years ago)
do you really think those people were laughing out of sympathy for rihanna
because to me it kinda comes across as: Keith Olbermann - Dubya + Chris Brown + gallery of guffawing jackals
― Aphex Twin... in my vagina... with the revolver? (bernard snowy), Monday, 22 August 2011 15:52 (fourteen years ago)
(I will admit that the gif is much 'better', and if I had seen it before watching the video I woulda been like "yeah right on!")

yeahhhhhh the laughing in the background makes it a pretty uncomfortable and the part about the female members of team breezy is problematic but that dude > chris brown
― k3vin k., Monday, 22 August 2011 15:58 (fourteen years ago)
it's weirder to me that the split-screen initially gives the impression that there's two guys sat next to each other but communicating as if in two different places
(pedantry @ teenage twitter users in the clip above nagl)
― sexual union prayerbook slam (schlump), Monday, 22 August 2011 15:58 (fourteen years ago)
yeah I watched the video. Chris Brown's a fucking joke so it's great that people laugh at him, the more the better.
― pathos of the unwarranted encore (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 22 August 2011 16:00 (fourteen years ago)
xpost to kev: yeah, my objection is not at all "leave breevy alone!"—a dude on tumblr put it better than I could:
Kansas City Shuffle; Make a joke about an instance of domestic abuse (look left), and when people are getting angry about your tastelessness declare that the joke was actually an attempt to raise awareness and shame the attacker (hit right).
― Aphex Twin... in my vagina... with the revolver? (bernard snowy), Monday, 22 August 2011 16:01 (fourteen years ago)
no i know i get you
― k3vin k., Monday, 22 August 2011 16:02 (fourteen years ago)
yeah the meagre degree of creepiness is offset by the scornworthiness of the target. also, "a joke about domestic abuse" is an intentional mischaracterization of the dude's joke. dude's joke is "you're a person who hits women." the target of the joke is the domestic abuser - not the same as mocking domestic abuse.
― pathos of the unwarranted encore (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 22 August 2011 16:05 (fourteen years ago)
I agree with you 100% that Chris Brown deserves far more scorn than he has thus far received from the media, and that *any* kind of criticism is better than the "pretend-it-didn't-happen, business-as-usual" attitude; and obviously a lot of the public feels that way, too, judging by the response to this meme. I'm just kinda bummed that our public discourse has degenerated to the point where it takes a clown to say these things.
― Aphex Twin... in my vagina... with the revolver? (bernard snowy), Monday, 22 August 2011 16:11 (fourteen years ago)
i think the vid w/ laughing is uncomfortable, but aero's totally right about how the original joke should be interpreted ... ppl werent getting angry at his 'tastelessness' tumblr dude offtm
― Gatsby was a success, in the end, wasn't he? (D-40), Monday, 22 August 2011 16:44 (fourteen years ago)
ftr I didn't realize that there was an actual video that went with that; my reaction is solely based off of the GIF
and tbh I did laugh when reading the GIF, in the sense of "HAHAHA YES SOMEONE IS CALLING CHRIS BROWN ON HIS SHIT IN ABOUT AS CRUEL A MANNER AS CAN BE DONE"
― Rob Based and DJ EZ God (DJP), Monday, 22 August 2011 16:49 (fourteen years ago)
xpost I don't see how you can say no one was angry about the joke—otherwise where did the whole 'apology' conceit come from?
as far as I can tell, here's the timeline:
- Chris Brown tweets some dumb shit about planking- comedian Andy Levy sees the opportunity for a good zinger and takes it- TEAM BREEZY rallies to the defense of their imperiled hero; Brown, in a hilarious example of "the only insults I know are the ones people have used against me", calls Levy childish- **HIGHLY SPECULATIVE** some Fox higher-up takes offense and asks Levy to apologize/retract his tweet? **HIGHLY SPECULATIVE**- Levy doubles down w/ this (admittedly, pretty good) rant about the boneheaded obliviousness of Brown (duh) and his contingent of hardcore fans (double-duh)
― Aphex Twin... in my vagina... with the revolver? (bernard snowy), Monday, 22 August 2011 17:08 (fourteen years ago)
but since we all agree that Chris Brown is awful, really the only thing that interests me about the whole affair is seeing whether or not people feel that being a Chris Brown fan/apologist automatically makes one awful as well
― Aphex Twin... in my vagina... with the revolver? (bernard snowy), Monday, 22 August 2011 17:10 (fourteen years ago)
his music is not good enough to make me overlook how terrible a person he is and I think less of everyone currently working with him
