At any rate, to use your own logic, it would be impolite to discuss this in Marissa's presence, no?

Actually, I don't think that the retarded kid cared one way or the other whether we were laughing at him or not.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Monday, 15 August 2005 03:41 (twenty years ago)

This thread has the most actual marissa posts ever.

She is OTM a lot, and also OTM, as well.

(Ah, Off and On have the same initial)

Anyway, More power to your music. Much more.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 15 August 2005 09:16 (twenty years ago)

HI , not every MM post is me. Magic marissa is not me either. Forksclovetofu has the writing style and confusion of Daniel.
Albatross was Bela. Who Cares was Bela Fleck.
Bela likes to speak in that pompous writing style to convince himself that he is the "man."
I was impressed with words like dialectic.
lol.
This was supposed to compete with Crispin's literally pursuits.
..and books.
Good going bela, you are always in competition with people.
You can't even say something kind about me or Crispin. You are always on your pedistal, and insulting people. You are so cold.
You are talented man. I enjoyed prelude and Bicyclops.
But you are full of yourself Bela. Musicians are supposed to be supporting one another. Bela says in resent interviews how talented everyone is in the music industry and how fortunate he is to be around such incredible musicians.
Bela implies that all his musicians friends are as talented as I am.
..or more talented and that is why he doesn't encourage me.
Bela is so cold, that because Cripsin is also not in Bela's bluegrass group of Nashvillians...that he is also being insulted .
It is said that Bela is soooo conceited that he can't find anything good to say about Crispin glover either.
Of course someone will deny this is Bela and say that he has never been on here and lie for him, as he throws them some cold cash...

the answer is, insecure men like bela who can't support other musicians and artists are not people who should be given so much money.
Andreas Vollenweider does make an attempt to play other instruments.
Even if one is a virtuoso at one instrument, they should attempt to play others. Mozart plays several instruments. Most very talented musicians play more then one.
...it is rare for Bela to pick up a guitar. and he is not into open tuning.
Isn't that uncreative.
I would go for Nicolas Q. before I would go for Bela any day of the year. Nicolas has soul, passion and a great sounding voice, sexy voice.

marissa -marchant, Monday, 15 August 2005 11:33 (twenty years ago)

good morning.

How old are you, if you don't mind me asking?

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 15 August 2005 11:39 (twenty years ago)

Marissa:

Please contact me. We should talk.

Aldo (Not Marissa)

Aldo Cella, Monday, 15 August 2005 11:40 (twenty years ago)

too young for you mark.
I can tell you much too old for me. and bela could be my dad.

marissa -marchant, Monday, 15 August 2005 11:42 (twenty years ago)

I think Crispin is too old for me and he doesn't take that good care of himself. all of you are too old for me.

marissa -marchant, Monday, 15 August 2005 11:43 (twenty years ago)

mark grout is more interested in how people are, then their minds or music.
looks don't last forever. but I am a serious musician.
my music is eternal.
by body is not.

marissa -marchant, Monday, 15 August 2005 11:45 (twenty years ago)

I meant to say, mark is very shallow, and aging men are ususally more concerned with age and asking women what their ages are.
anyway...I was just looking for moral support from musicians like bela but you can't teach an old dog like Bela new tricks.
He is stuck in his ways. He doesn't have a youthful attitude. they said that they ran out of gas in their last record.
some men have youthful attitudes as they get older. Bela appears like an old dog ready for the pasture.

marissa -marchant, Monday, 15 August 2005 11:48 (twenty years ago)

Bela is way too old for me. He acts and thinks like an old man.
But even at 33 ..bela was acting like an old man on stage. He appeared lifeless and dazed.
Bela has an old man's attitude about life.

You can't teach an old man new tricks. it is all in the mind.

And as insecure men age they start looking for any woman who is much younger then themselves. Crispin is going through mid life crisis with any bimbo slut hanging on his arm and porno stars. He thinks this makes him appear younger. But it doesn't. It makes him appear impotent and old.

marissa -marchant, Monday, 15 August 2005 11:52 (twenty years ago)

too young for you mark.
I can tell you much too old for me. and bela could be my dad.

Marissa, actually you are right. I'm 44 (married, 2 great kids) so there you go. I'm not that shallow, just didn't know.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 15 August 2005 12:20 (twenty years ago)

Also, I'm not looking for anybody else, so that's that.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 15 August 2005 12:24 (twenty years ago)

Well, that knocked that one on the head!

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 15 August 2005 13:15 (twenty years ago)

Good! Fucking hell, bury it before it wakes up!

Truckdrivin' Buddha (Rock Hardy), Monday, 15 August 2005 13:16 (twenty years ago)

sheessh, go away for a few days and lookit!!
MM MADNESS!!

and i'm suprised that no one's said-

"i'd.....prefer.....not to."

eedd, Monday, 15 August 2005 13:35 (twenty years ago)

well my most recent photo was one that was very large ...with one earring on.
that was taken very recently. I am young, so that is all the matters.
I will be young till I think I am ready to die.
I am always driven, interested in sex..and always lively.
The only thing that matters is attitude. I have met very young men who are old in their thinking.
There are men in the 20's who act like very old men.
bela is also an old man.
He acts like one.
He is sluggish on stage, nonplus.
Crispin seems more lively, but in his real life, he is probably in a rocking chair, slumped over writing more books about catching rats.
Bela is not looking for anyone else, dan isn't... crispin isn't..and there is not a man out there who isn't totally happy with their lover and life.
every man I meet isn't looking for a way out.
Every man that I meet is so satisfied with little in life.
Bela Fleck was an old man when he was barely in his thirties.
He looks pretty young, but his attitude in life is one of an old stoggy man.
He has a personality of a man who is sits in a rocking chair all day watching soap operas.
He talks endlessly about bluegrass, as though he can't go beyond this
...Bluegrass is for the aging, low libido crowd.
remember age, is mostly a state of mind. Dan, he acted like old man when I dated him.
He is not an old man now..but he acts like an old beat up man with no libido.
dan is an old man.
I am a young woman, and we had to break up because dan wanted to sit in his rocking chair and read, and I wanted his body all the time.
Dan 's libido was one of a 160 year old.
yes folks ..this is the low libido crowd.

marissa -marchant, Monday, 15 August 2005 15:02 (twenty years ago)

there is not a man out there who isn't totally happy with their lover and life.

Well, I am, certainly.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 15 August 2005 15:07 (twenty years ago)

well I am certainly not happy with the low libido crowd. the english can be a bit tight lipped. no offense. but the english men that I meet are on the tight lipped side.
Like I said, my best date was a french canadian, with that french latin blood. sensuous.
He was a guitarist.
He is on a folk label now.
He dabbled in some bluegrass.
but he was french.
opened. Like nico, more opened, more passionate, more ready to get some loving going on.
My experience with frenchmen and some italians, yes, they are more passionate...Bela is a bit tightlipped.

marissa -marchant, Monday, 15 August 2005 15:11 (twenty years ago)

Age is certainly a state of mind, anyway, Marissa. My kids will keep me out of any rocking chair for the next 15 years at the very least.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 15 August 2005 15:12 (twenty years ago)

Oh you mentioned nico before, do you mean as in the Velvet Underground Nico, or some other?

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 15 August 2005 15:12 (twenty years ago)

I should knock a different flavor.

Marissa M.,

I love you and I have never even heard you sing.

If I were to hear you sing, I would love you, and tell you to sing again.

Yours,

Confounded (Confounded), Monday, 15 August 2005 15:17 (twenty years ago)

Marissa,
What kind of work do you do?

jerginsk (jergins), Monday, 15 August 2005 15:27 (twenty years ago)

i sail oils

Magic Marissa, Monday, 15 August 2005 15:28 (twenty years ago)

I think she does something regarding organic foodstuffs...

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 15 August 2005 15:30 (twenty years ago)

Oh yeah, essential oils, that was it.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 15 August 2005 15:31 (twenty years ago)

marrissa,
maybe it's the coffee talking, but you seem to have volumes of speil to say, but it seems to be oddly going after bella fleck, whom i'm gonna say isn't worth it...

and all this 'low libido/old men @ 20' stuff, i mean, i see where yr coming from and all, but, seems like a sticky wicket witchu.

drop outta society and drop into passion! (fruit?)

i'm still not sold on all this, but i'm becoming more enamored with the idea of this mad-genius type who has a sufficient grasp of the english language to mangle it.

you should listen to some Syd Barrett...
he's got some passion...or did.

eedd, Monday, 15 August 2005 15:43 (twenty years ago)

more grass band girls please

Magic Marissa, Monday, 15 August 2005 15:46 (twenty years ago)

Let's face it, the woman is a genius. How else can you explain this?

Aldo Cella, Monday, 15 August 2005 15:49 (twenty years ago)

Aldo OTM

marissa fan, Monday, 15 August 2005 15:50 (twenty years ago)

Marissa, You don't know shit about Bela. Why do you keep talking about him like he spurned your romantic advances? Bela's music is what needs to be talked about -- he is an astounding player, and that's that.

Edgar M. (Confounded), Monday, 15 August 2005 16:01 (twenty years ago)

it is defying my ability to use words to form sentences that will say how to explain...

see, now i want to hear her stuff more!!!

you've done this to pique our collective curiousity!

and done well.

eedd, Monday, 15 August 2005 16:02 (twenty years ago)

in life is one of an old stoggy man.
He has a i am about to move out of this little house in a great why he dates bluegrass girls ...if he does, NO PASSION>
Bluegrass is boxes all over the neighborhood. so bela if you want to jam with a bouzouki ..come but his attitude
personality of a place and feeling well, since I have to move.
I hate moving. it is enormous thread with my name on it.
A few of them I think

Magic Marissa, Monday, 15 August 2005 16:53 (twenty years ago)

Bluegrass is boxes all over the neighborhood

?

kingfish completely hatstand (Kingfish), Monday, 15 August 2005 17:16 (twenty years ago)

I believe that is a reference to a protest song lyric that was popular in the 1960s. As a 70s schoolboy, I was handed a ditto of it by my junior high school English teacher, along with the lyrics to "I Am A Rock."

k/l (Ken L), Monday, 15 August 2005 17:20 (twenty years ago)

Little boxes on the hillside
Little boxes made of ticky tacky
Little boxes
Little boxes
Little boxes all the same
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same

Pete Seeger, you ain't no Arlo Guthrie.

Confounded (Confounded), Monday, 15 August 2005 17:35 (twenty years ago)

So Edgar.... if this is you. YOu think I need to JUST talk about Bela's astounding playing as though I am nothing and not talented. While he gets all the money to show himself off, while I keep moving and waiting to prove myself on the net, because none of you men think I am worth anything. That is obvious.
Multi talent is what Mozart had.
Gerwshin and many women that we know nothing about...because men like yourself think women are not important and are just there to talk about the astounding talent of this MAN with no penis or libido.
Mozart was a wild man.
He was not uninteresting and sluggish like you all are.
He played numbers of instruments well.
Astounding my foot.
thankyou.
Andreas is interesting. I am not romantically interested in Bela as much as you think. I don't think lifeless musicians who are tech wiz's should be making top dollar.
Page , you know Jimmy. Was he a lifeless performer?
Was he a libidoless man?
Was he unexiciting?
did he play just like a machine all the time?
not saying he was astounding all the time.
Yes, we should talk about Bela and his amazing technique.
We should talk about how he stays on bango to avoid soul, passion and feeling.
Nothing wrong with playing bango sometimes...but to create the idea that Bela is some unbelievable music is a lie.
Curtis Institute has gone way downhill.
My teacher was talking about Celine Dion...
a woman who can't sing well.
she compared her to Barbara Streisand.
I then told her that she was a fraud, and I quit from her elitist and phony presense.
If she didn't have the talent to be able hear the difference between Streisand and Dion then she shouldn't be teaching at schools like Curtis. she had a poor ear ...
a poorly developed ear.
and edgar if you really believe that Bela's play is that astounding...? you might be as poorly developed as she was.
The money he rakes in is astounding.
He is jealous of my talent.
He plays notes...there are many virtuosos who play notes out there.
so what?
He thinks that playing very quickly with much agility is something to behold. No beauty. At least you Edgar play with some beauty.
The bass is a beautiful instrument and you play piano don't you>
?:?
You are too talented Edgar to be talking about Bela.
Find someone on your level....
get in reality.

marissa -marchant, Monday, 15 August 2005 17:44 (twenty years ago)

while I keep moving and waiting to prove myself on the net

b-b-b-but your off the net

marissa fan, Monday, 15 August 2005 17:54 (twenty years ago)

that was my letter to edgar out of reality meyer.
poor edgar.
He was been brainwashed.
Edgar is beyond Bela. Edgar Meyer is defending someone he is superior to by far.

why? Edgar is impressed with Bela's money and fame..sad ...
don't you people think about anything beyond status and names?
get real already.

BtW,
I am mostly Slavic and 1/16 th english..most russian and 1/4 Polish, a little Austrian..I was disappointed to find out that I have 1/16 enlgish blood.
The english are tightlipped crowd...except for people like Mozart who like Crispin are considered bafoons...
spelling?

marissa -marchant, Monday, 15 August 2005 17:55 (twenty years ago)

Uh? Are you suggesting Mozart was english now?

Also, would it be impertinent to ask if english is your first language or not?

Masked Gazza, Monday, 15 August 2005 18:02 (twenty years ago)

Malvina Reynolds is responsible for "Little Boxes"--Seeger just sings it.

patita (patita), Monday, 15 August 2005 18:05 (twenty years ago)

Marissa,

I hear your words, and you are trying to break Bela and I apart, but you don't have the will to do it. He is a superior musician with SO MUCH LIFE, and we will continue to work together regardless of what you say.

Take a look at the man that you have so much HATE for, and try to understand him as a musician, no more, no less.

Edgar Meyer (Confounded), Monday, 15 August 2005 18:12 (twenty years ago)

me play bango

Bela Fleck, Monday, 15 August 2005 18:13 (twenty years ago)

Mozart was Austrian.
Edgar, get out of the brainwashing machine.
Your Bass playing and the Bass itself, especially stand up bass, is like really the comparison between Streisands voice and Dion?
It is like comparing Bango with Bass.
Bass is a obviously much more aethetic instrument. My voice is far above Bango..especially people who sing well.
Guitar is above bango...Harp is above Bango...
There are virtusos on superior, sensuous, lush and gorgeous instruments and people like yourself who play like they are making love to a gorgeous instrument.
Bela makes love to a piece of tin.
..if you call this making love?
In his mind, Bela doesn't have the mind of any astounding musician....
he has the mind of a an astounding techinician.
Like marc o'conner..both of them are obsessed with playing excessively fast to wow the ignorant public.
both of them are very talented people.
Astounding my ars.
anyone is highly versed with music would know that Bela doesn't this kind of recogition.
I know little about your compostions Edgar.
I can't totally judge you, but your playing is not part of the low libido crowd.
It is because of the value of your instrument of choice, and there is a reason that YOU chose Bass, rather then the ukulali?i have no idea how to spell it. You don't play the kuzu.
Of course bango is is superior to kuzu.
Bass is a very superior instrument.

marissa -marchant, Monday, 15 August 2005 18:14 (twenty years ago)

Of course bango is is superior to kuzu.

MARISSA OTM!

marissa fan, Monday, 15 August 2005 18:16 (twenty years ago)

Marissa makes Bela Fleck sound like some rock god drunk on his own ego. I have a hard time reconciling her version of Fleck with the pictures posted of him.

ryansf (ryansf), Monday, 15 August 2005 18:17 (twenty years ago)

Has anybody seen Bela around?

Confounded (Confounded), Monday, 15 August 2005 18:24 (twenty years ago)

ryansf, it is like comparing Bango with Bass. Guitar is above bango...Harp is above Bango...

marissa fan, Monday, 15 August 2005 18:28 (twenty years ago)

"many brits are tightlipped about nappies", says source.

Magic Marissa, Monday, 15 August 2005 18:30 (twenty years ago)

Marissa,

I play electric bass. Thanks for saying that it's better than the bango. I've always really liked playing bass, I think it's a great instrument!

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 15 August 2005 18:40 (twenty years ago)

mott is bass superiour to kuzu?
