Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 2 August 2011 15:38 (fourteen years ago)

For the past 3 weeks I have been walking around singing "We Need A Resolution" to myself. I was actually hanging out w this dude I met in Portland and at one point mostly-jokingly said to him "btw I have this bad habit of just spontaneously singing Aaliyah songs at any given moment so just heads up" and then like not 5 min later I was opening a pizza to put in the oven and totally w/o realizing it got all "whass yo' prooooblem / let's resolve" under my breath.

Jedmond, Thursday, 25 August 2011 09:37 (fourteen years ago)

I still get genuinely upset and start thinking "what if they just had a slightly different idea for that music video, what if what if" every time I think about it. But god damnit if Rock the Boat isn't the GOAT.

abcfsk, Thursday, 25 August 2011 11:13 (fourteen years ago)

i'm devoting the better part of today to listening to her nonstop (like i need any excuse, really)

uberweiss, Thursday, 25 August 2011 15:25 (fourteen years ago)

I know that "If Your Girl Only Knew" isn't her best song, but for most people it would be, and the fact that she eclipsed that many times over is like...ugh, you are missed girl.

some dude, Thursday, 25 August 2011 23:36 (fourteen years ago)

It's so weird that I don't remember finding out she died. It happened during a period (probably the last one) where I wasn't paying that much attention to music tho.

The Reverend, Thursday, 25 August 2011 23:55 (fourteen years ago)

Like I feel like I learned of it from a classmate, but I wouldn't have been in school until at least a couple of weeks after it happened.

The Reverend, Thursday, 25 August 2011 23:56 (fourteen years ago)
