I don't like the name so much compared to the previous 2 iterations of this concept but the interface is def the slickest so far. Actually really reminds me of early 00's chatrooms... nostalgia or something.

I could really see this concept evolve into something brilliant, with some more features, for instance the ability to book 30 or 60 minute slots for 'radio show' like stuff, include mic support for dj'ing (or stand up comedy), etc. Some kind of modding/banning/voting system would be required then tho, maybe like "more than 75% of the listeners hate yr set -> kick". Or something.

with tight community moderation, a rating system, and the ability to stream without having to be in the chat room, i could see this being an internet radio alternative. are there room operators with mod privileges to ban trolls who queue up inappropriate stuff, or people who consistently play glitchy mp3s? I have zero interest in chatting on the internet, but wouldn't mind bookmarking a few consistently good rooms to listen to as background music or whatever.

It's been fine with me about bit rate - I've uploaded plenty of 320s - but you can't upload anything over 20mb.

Quite a few occurrences last night of songs stopping half the way through, though. Thinking there might be a server glitch with vbr or something presently. They're generally good about fixing problems quickly once they know about them.

Whenever I see at least an hour's worth of queue ahead of me (which is always) I say fuckit, y'all'll just have to do without my brilliant choices.

I agree this is a problem...allowing everyone to upload five tracks each doesn't work well with more than a couple of users.

Hmm, I'll gladly remove some of my tunes from the queue if that means more people will upload theur tunes.

I'm at work so not available for Outloudage anyway...btw my comment wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, I've maxed out the queue myself on numerous occasions.

The reason I put the max amount was because few others seemed to be uploading, but maybe they didn't want to upload because of so many tunes in the queue? Oh no, it's a vicious circle!

a bit of restraint and turn-taking and not queueing anything when there's more than half a dozen already up ought to fix that. again not pointing a finger cos i've shoved plenty of tracks up.

I'm also liable to queue up drones, horrible noises and/or insect music, stuff I figure might not go over too well.

people cd maybe delete anything they've queued if they're gonna leave the room. wouldn't want to have rules about what kind of things people shd play but obv i wouldn't queue up 5 looooong Merzbow tracks and then fuck off cos that wd be a bit doltish imo

I... kind of like the look. As I've said before, I prefer clean functionality over any graphics, but... I kind of like the trippy pyramids and strange creatures.

anyway, my favorite thing about outloud was that you could load from your own files, you didn't have to search on this or that site. this loses that, but the ability to share videos is nice.

Oh yeah, I miss that ability, totally. This is a different thing, but seeing as we no longer have outloud, it's the best we've got.

Still no word from Michael on outloud yet, btw. It's the weekend, though...maybe he's not on fb at the weekend.

we're bummed too, but the reality of it is that we recently started getting letters and phone calls from BMI, SESAC, and ASCAP (the music licensing agencies) asking for money to secure licensing, since continuing to operate the site requires broadcast licenses from each agency. way more money than we are capable of coughing up right now, sadly. so at the risk of also getting legal threats for not paying up, we had to take it down for now until we figure something out. i'd like to bring the site back in some fashion, maybe something password resicted or invite only, but i'm not clear on if that would protect us legally either - we'll have to see.
