It also sounds as if you believe that creating a new arrangement for a cover is somehow offensive. Would you rather all songs not be covered at all?
voice comments are complete gold; in other news: water keeps you alive
― Brad Nelson (BradNelson), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 07:36 (fourteen years ago)
seriously i stood behind a couple at the show that knew every lyric for every original song
meanwhile original songs dominated the setlist
meanwhile how can this even happen
― Brad Nelson (BradNelson), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 07:37 (fourteen years ago)
how can a band fill their setlist with songs they've written, or how can their fans learn the words?
either way it's bafflingly unprecedented, I agree
― undeɹrated ærosm?th b∞tlegs I have pwned (sic), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 07:42 (fourteen years ago)
man i bet some people even enjoyed themselves
what the hell
― Brad Nelson (BradNelson), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 07:52 (fourteen years ago)
but, here, i wasn't sure what to expect because i was watching:
- a band mostly known for their precious covers of popular songs- a band that got popular mostly through youtube
it is maybe wrong or stupid to be surprised/confused by a completely enthusiastic crowd responding to original songs in that context, but there you go
moment of clarity reached when mid-set the drummer asked the crowd who subscribed to their youtube channel
― Brad Nelson (BradNelson), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 08:00 (fourteen years ago)
I interpreted how can this even happen as Eli Eli lama sabachthani? not literally how can it happen

I know that I risk jinxing myself in saying that I have very high hopes for this album, but it's the truth! Over the last year, I have written songs that I'm proud of and that I believe represent a cohesive body of work. They've taken a lot out of me (in a good way), and I'm looking forward to sharing them with you.It helps that I have so much faith in the musicians I'll be working with. Between the drummer, the bassist, the guitarist and the engineer, I couldn't tell you who was the most talented. They are the ones who will turn my bare bone songs into full-fledged works. They are the magic makers. I would tell you who they are, but you would probably get too excited and forget to give me money.Everything is ready to go: the songs, the musicians, the studio. All I need is a little help from you! Every dollar will go towards the album: paying the musicians and the people who will be filming the recording process, reserving the studio and hotel rooms, renting gear etc. And if by some miracle there's anything left over, I will buy myself a brand new Jaguar...or the money will go towards promoting the album. I haven't decided yet.

Hmm, this is somewhat of a dilemma. If I listen to them on Spotify, how will I know that what I'm hearing is actually the instruments that are being played by the pomplemoose? For all I know they might be lip syncing or using "hidden sounds." I'm just not sure that I can really trust them anymore without the VideoSongs to authenticate their work.

i seriously don't understand how this woman can need $25k to make an album. even leaving aside the "what happened to the hyundai money?" question, doesn't she know a bunch of twee motherfuckers with instruments and a basement studio who will record this thing for free once she fixes them with her evil hypno-stare?
