Cowsill Communication (James Redd and the Blecchs), Tuesday, 21 June 2011 18:38 (fourteen years ago)

Using rewinding cassettes to provide the same effect as turntable scratching is some PoMo shit. Otherwise this is mostly just the latter.

It's not the stomp in the pomp, but the juice in the moose.

it's actually amazing to me how much of my pomplaphobia is visual; if I don't watch the video, the song is mostly forgettable, but clicking over to the tab with the video makes me all NO NO NO NO #*%! BOXCAR

Still hate them but if I don't look at them this song isn't as awful as the other stuff I've heard.

Shhhhhh

ephendophile (Eric H.), Wednesday, 22 June 2011 05:41 (fourteen years ago)

I like how in that one shot motif (seen @ 0:14 & repeated) it looks like the upside down Nat is checking out rightside up Nat's boobs (and vice versa).

Mucho! Macho! Honcho!: Turn Off The Dark (C. Grisso/McCain), Wednesday, 22 June 2011 05:59 (fourteen years ago)

ephendophile (Eric H.), Wednesday, 22 June 2011 13:36 (fourteen years ago)

I hate the way he plays the drums and I hate whatever poster it was who wondered aloud if that's how he is in the sack.

Pleasant Plains, Wednesday, 22 June 2011 14:01 (fourteen years ago)

^^^that was me and I'm sorry

henry s, Wednesday, 22 June 2011 16:54 (fourteen years ago)

i hate PP for re-posting that since I had missed it the first time

gr8080, Wednesday, 22 June 2011 16:56 (fourteen years ago)

I hate that I sometimes now flash on their version of "September" instead of the real one. And then I wanna thrash a drum set into that guy's grinning face.

ephendophile (Eric H.), Wednesday, 22 June 2011 17:00 (fourteen years ago)

These guys are Room 101 and the Two-Minute Hate rolled into one. Or two.

ice cr?m, Wednesday, 22 June 2011 17:33 (fourteen years ago)

I'll bet if hecklers asked for "Free Bird" they would be one of the few bands happy to accommodate.

____ ________: Is excited for her backstage passes and box seats at the Kennedy Center to watch her cousin Nataly the singer of Pomplamoose open for OK Go!

Pleasant Plains, Friday, 24 June 2011 17:24 (fourteen years ago)

And by that I should say, more power to Whiney for that.

Ktulu says, I've come to hate my body (wk), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 02:00 (fourteen years ago)

It also sounds as if you believe that creating a new arrangement for a cover is somehow offensive. Would you rather all songs not be covered at all?

voice comments are complete gold; in other news: water keeps you alive

Brad Nelson (BradNelson), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 07:36 (fourteen years ago)

seriously i stood behind a couple at the show that knew every lyric for every original song

meanwhile original songs dominated the setlist

meanwhile how can this even happen

Brad Nelson (BradNelson), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 07:37 (fourteen years ago)

how can a band fill their setlist with songs they've written, or how can their fans learn the words?

either way it's bafflingly unprecedented, I agree

undeɹrated ærosm?th b∞tlegs I have pwned (sic), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 07:42 (fourteen years ago)

man i bet some people even enjoyed themselves

what the hell

Brad Nelson (BradNelson), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 07:52 (fourteen years ago)

but, here, i wasn't sure what to expect because i was watching:

- a band mostly known for their precious covers of popular songs
- a band that got popular mostly through youtube

it is maybe wrong or stupid to be surprised/confused by a completely enthusiastic crowd responding to original songs in that context, but there you go

moment of clarity reached when mid-set the drummer asked the crowd who subscribed to their youtube channel
