If ever there was a band less influenced by the VU, it's Metallica. I can't imagine two acts I'd like to hear collaborate less than these guys, now, each at or near the peak of their respective creative nadir. Then again, bar=low.

If ILX musicians decided to each do a Lou Reed/Metallica mashup track I would listen to that record fyi

polyphonic, Friday, 17 June 2011 19:30 (fifteen years ago)

This is going to be like a whole album of that Marianne Faithful collab.

I can't even tell what key that's supposed to be in

winoa ryder sexes creatures of the night (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 17:51 (fifteen years ago)

I love the huge boo in the middle of the two cheers.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 28 June 2011 17:52 (fifteen years ago)

i believe that's the audience doing the "louuuuuuuu" thing. happens at all of his shows.

tylerw, Tuesday, 28 June 2011 17:52 (fifteen years ago)

i dunno, sounded like a perfectly serviceable hard rock version of sweet jane to me!

tylerw, Tuesday, 28 June 2011 17:54 (fifteen years ago)

I'm with the "That was fucking brutal" crowd.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 28 June 2011 17:55 (fifteen years ago)

I do kinda love how this is just par for the course for a guy who's whole career is a string of alternating sellout/contrarian moves

winoa ryder sexes creatures of the night (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 17:57 (fifteen years ago)

b-b-but hetfield doing the "sweeet jaaane-aaaagghhhh" backing vocals! hammett's guitar center solos! ulrich's face!
ok maybe it wasn't great.

tylerw, Tuesday, 28 June 2011 17:58 (fifteen years ago)

Earlier this week I made myself a "Worst of Lou Reed" mix and frankly there was a lot of competition.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 28 June 2011 17:58 (fifteen years ago)

ooh gimme

winoa ryder sexes creatures of the night (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 17:59 (fifteen years ago)

I'm with the "That was fucking brutal" crowd.

i think the metal crowd & the melodic jams crowd understand "fucking brutal" differently though

devoted to boats (schlump), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 18:04 (fifteen years ago)

I seriously cannot make out any actual notes or chords apart from that horrible soloing Richie Sambora is doing

winoa ryder sexes creatures of the night (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 18:07 (fifteen years ago)

Brutal meaning bad, not brutal meaning good.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 28 June 2011 18:07 (fifteen years ago)

perfectly serviceable!

And the piano, it sounds like a carnivore (contenderizer), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 18:09 (fifteen years ago)

Not going to pay attention to this anymore until I hear the wonderful Pomplamoose videosong ironic cover versions.

Retweet From The Sun (James Redd and the Blecchs), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 18:09 (fifteen years ago)

I'm in both crowds but that was brutal bad.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 28 June 2011 18:10 (fifteen years ago)

like, fit for service. if i walked into a large sports bar on a thursday night and heard a band of codgers playing this, i would be happy that they at least get a night out.

Ktulu says, I've come to hate my body (wk), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 18:47 (fifteen years ago)

i was not terribly offended by it?

tylerw, Tuesday, 28 June 2011 18:49 (fifteen years ago)

Is there any way to do a hard-rock cover of Sweet Jane that is more than serviceable?

Let me tell you something about that song. (Eazy), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 20:12 (fifteen years ago)

Is there any way for a person to refrain from doing a hard-rock cover of Sweet Jane?
