unmetalled world (wk), Thursday, 16 June 2011 23:06 (fifteen years ago)

Only one things is for certain: Lou Reed is going to sell more records with this one than he has in decades. Probably the most since "Transformer."

thirdalternative, Thursday, 16 June 2011 23:07 (fifteen years ago)

I kind of doubt it

i bet New York sold ok, just by dint of being at a time when ppl still bought stuff and having a couple minor mtv hits

the beta banned (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 16 June 2011 23:08 (fifteen years ago)

ya better hit the lights with a flower

unmetalled world (wk), Thursday, 16 June 2011 23:08 (fifteen years ago)

Really? Even "New York" didn't sell anywhere near what a Metallica record does.

thirdalternative, Thursday, 16 June 2011 23:09 (fifteen years ago)

xxpost "sell records"

Nebuchadnezzar Buchanan (Neanderthal), Thursday, 16 June 2011 23:09 (fifteen years ago)

It will chart higher than any Lou Reed album in decades as well.

lots of janitors have something to say (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 16 June 2011 23:10 (fifteen years ago)

I know what you're saying, but it'll still sell more copies than The Raven, Ecstasy, Set the Twilight . . .

thirdalternative, Thursday, 16 June 2011 23:10 (fifteen years ago)

I wish John Cale would make a record with Megadeth.

Paris...1919!
The Academy...in Peril!

cwkiii, Friday, 17 June 2011 03:29 (fifteen years ago)

Lou Reed has had two gold albums in his entire career...every Metallica album is at least double platinum. even if Metallica collaborating with someone else sells a third of what they usually sell, it could be LR's highest selling album.

If ever there was a band less influenced by the VU, it's Metallica. I can't imagine two acts I'd like to hear collaborate less than these guys, now, each at or near the peak of their respective creative nadir. Then again, bar=low.

If ILX musicians decided to each do a Lou Reed/Metallica mashup track I would listen to that record fyi

polyphonic, Friday, 17 June 2011 19:30 (fifteen years ago)

This is going to be like a whole album of that Marianne Faithful collab.
