Dr. Dre abandons new album...

But part of me would have liked to have heard it first...maybe he still has something left. His production on Chronic 2001 was occasionally good, but mostly bleh.

its going to suck isnt it? its like the rap chinese democracy. itll be over laboured, sterile, gutless. except maybe one or two tracks. dres perfectionism will be his downfall for detox. the fact he just isnt what he used to be either as a producer isnt gonna help.

The latest Nas album had one tune by him, I thought it was pretty good. The upcoming Eve album is supposed to have some production by him too.

that lil wayne beat is well made and everything but so boring. when is he gonna change up those fucking macabre synth chords hes been using for a decade now? the young buck beat he did was good but again, it just feels overproduced.

Dre didn't produce that Wayne beat, Cipha Sounds did.

Rapper Dr. Dre's son found dead

The son of hip-hop star Dr. Dre has been found dead at his home in Woodland Hills, California, reports Reuters.

Andre Young Jr. was discovered "unresponsive in bed" by his mother on Saturday morning following a night out with friends. Paramedics pronounced the 20-year-old dead at the scene.

A statement from Dr. Dre's spokesman said: "Dr. Dre is mourning the loss of his son Andre Young Jr. Please respect his family's grief and privacy at this time."

The cause of death cannot be determined until results from toxicology tests are returned, which could take more than six weeks.

A Grammy-winning producer and artist, Dr. Dre will release his third album Detox this year. He has also produced records for Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent and Jay-Z.

think we were equating this never-to-be album with other long awaited legendary albums. Though a new MBV record would be more appropriate here than a remaster.

barely made a cultural dent but it has most of the cast from 2001, a couple new acolytes, and multiple Kendrick appearances

and I have no idea how it came out nearly eight years ago. time flies when no one's releasing Detox

he fucked it with the apple music exclusive. similar thing happened with the jay-z/beyonce collab album (but with tidal)

or maybe both were just subpar late career efforts that recycled older ideas without the spark that made them special in the first place

there are some moments, but it's 100% a retread

didn't even get a partial song interpolated into the super bowl half time show

the spotify numbers for compton are truly abysmal. the biggest song is sitting at 10.5 mil, and it's not "talking to my diary," which played over the credits of the straight outta compton movie

outside of ILX, which is how I knew it even existed, I don't remember ANYBODY talking about it at the time
