oh hey whispers is really good
― Tracy Michael Jordan Catalano (Jordan), Tuesday, 16 December 2008 16:22 (seventeen years ago)
that "god only knows" edit is making me ridiculously happy
― psychgawsple, Tuesday, 16 December 2008 21:17 (seventeen years ago)
sooooooooooooooooooooooooo gooood
caramellas, love love love, whispers, grace jones, the rest equally amazing...
― san frandisco, Wednesday, 17 December 2008 00:38 (seventeen years ago)
fuck i love them for the friendly fires remix even more now that i listened to the original:jesus christ look at these fucking gobshites etc
― ♪☺♫☻ (gr8080), Saturday, 20 December 2008 03:43 (seventeen years ago)
ya, i think my least favorite part of the remix is the refrain where the original dude sings "they'll be out for us" in that indie-anthem-fuxxor voice. the original wasn't as bad as i expected from that one line (i quite like the cowbells!), but it still sounds like a third string dfa act.
somehow the aeroplane remix makes me forget all about that douchey neckwear...
― psychgawsple, Saturday, 20 December 2008 06:01 (seventeen years ago)
i mean i loled right off the bat when i saw that FF had a male vocalist and realized aeroplane had said "hey i know! lets get a girl to sing it instead!"
― ♪☺♫☻ (gr8080), Saturday, 20 December 2008 06:16 (seventeen years ago)
That video of the "God Only Knows" edit was shot on the night I saw them! I'm in the audience somewhere.
Re the Flying Mix:
a) Isn't Tensnake's "Tavira" totally amazing?
b) The Aeroplane remix of Lindstrom & Solale is such an amazingly compulsive track, that guitar is insane. The sudden organ vamps remind me of Fela Kuti for some reason. Although it does make me think that if Aeroplane blow up it will kinda mean that Reverso 68 wuz robbed.
― Tim F, Tuesday, 23 December 2008 23:13 (seventeen years ago)
i made an mp3 out of the god only knows edit from the podcast gbx found
god only knows (aeroplane rmx) - beach boys

for those of us who pay less attention to the internet than actually having a life and don't have each of their pubic hairs attached to an RRS twitter news feed auto-generating progress reports (somewhere in Umbongoistan a server farm is falling towards the earths core with a toxic payload/melting the Poles one glacier at a time....)
does anyone know where I can get a copy of the RA podcast now?

― apleto (jergins), Sunday, 28 December 2008 23:24 (seventeen years ago)
lol
I'm not trying to insult anyone here, just blowing off a bit of steam at what trying to follow music on the internet mostly feels like these days, if anything ILM is a touch more considered and mature about it (which is why I'm hoping to fly in 8 months late and check it out with curiousity rather always-in-the-moment jadedness... )
and thanks Jergins :)
― fandango, Sunday, 28 December 2008 23:27 (seventeen years ago)
isn't RA archived somewhere on archive.org?
― caek, Sunday, 28 December 2008 23:30 (seventeen years ago)
last time i checked it said the page was expired. but i might have missed something
― apleto (jergins), Sunday, 28 December 2008 23:32 (seventeen years ago)
I tried that (and google obv.) but could only find 2007 pages so far? I could be doing it wrong somehow, not really used the site in a while but didn't notice any obvious changes :/

one of my favorite things about aeroplane is that now they're the first thing on my ipod, instead of fucking aesop rock.
― Tracy Michael Jordan Catalano (Jordan), Monday, 29 December 2008 14:57 (seventeen years ago)
it's way nicer to hear whispers start up when i leave for work instead of "this is labor..."
― Tracy Michael Jordan Catalano (Jordan), Monday, 29 December 2008 14:58 (seventeen years ago)
shame on you for not having any aaliyah
― eman cipation s1ocklamation (max), Monday, 29 December 2008 15:02 (seventeen years ago)

― Tracy Michael Jordan Catalano (Jordan), Monday, 29 December 2008 15:07 (seventeen years ago)
so you only listen to your ipod alphabetically? you know you can browse artists, right?
― cutty, Monday, 29 December 2008 15:09 (seventeen years ago)
maybe it's a shuffle...
― willem, Monday, 29 December 2008 15:15 (seventeen years ago)
maybe this only happens to me but sometimes the first song on there starts playing automatically. my ipod is kinda old and temperamental though.

you can also take artists off that you don't like
you can make playlists too I think
pretty sure I read tht somewhere
― cozwn, Monday, 29 December 2008 16:41 (seventeen years ago)
you should also get abba (and just delete aesop rock)
― caek, Monday, 29 December 2008 16:45 (seventeen years ago)

― eman cipation s1ocklamation (max), Monday, 29 December 2008 16:48 (seventeen years ago)
they used to have all the punctuation and numbers first, but that changed a couple of versions back. No more 38 special and !!! ;_;
― caek, Monday, 29 December 2008 16:57 (seventeen years ago)
^^yes! also, some ada also brightens up any ipod.
― lex pretend, Monday, 29 December 2008 16:58 (seventeen years ago)
you'd also think a new orleans-loving guy like jordan would have some aaron neville
― s1ocki, Monday, 29 December 2008 17:05 (seventeen years ago)
i don't really do playlists.
anyway, take it to this thread: Alphabetically speaking, I bet I know the first artist in your iTunes
i have some al b. sure on there if it makes you guys feel better.
― Tracy Michael Jordan Catalano (Jordan), Monday, 29 December 2008 17:07 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, you'd think so. i have some neville brothers and some cyril neville but no solo aaron.
― Tracy Michael Jordan Catalano (Jordan), Monday, 29 December 2008 17:08 (seventeen years ago)

― cutty, Tuesday, 30 December 2008 15:08 (seventeen years ago)
About three years old, where do the numbers come now?
