ronan - that's the one. I haven't dug into it yet - just a couple of tracks and read some liner notes. I'll have to report back later. I got this because I heard a song I really liked the other day on the radio ($1000 wedding) and when the DJ said Gram P. it pushed my growing curiosity over the line. So anyway I'm pretty much a GP virgin.

Charlie - I am curious about Susie Ibarra - read a Thurston Moore interview of her in Index. Apparently an amazing drummer?? Jazz??

Ron, Monday, 25 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Jeff W, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Charlie - I am curious about Susie Ibarra
I saw her do an amazing improv set with John Zorn at his Tonic Club. If I remember correctly she played on the last Yo La Tengo record.

nathalie, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ned, have you got to the WGC & Telefunk Fishtank CD yet?

Not yet, alas.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Andy, is "Life In A Day" worth getting? I never got around to it even though I love "Reel To Real Cacophony".

I've yet to listen to it, actually. I'm kinda scared since I have such an affinity for everything else through New Gold Dream.

Assuming we're including singles: It's Goin Down by the X-ecutioners, Addicted To You by Alec Empire, Music (album) by Madonna (down to £4.99 in Woolies), The Original Chicago House Classics and Industrial Revolutions (drum & bass mix by Total Science). If I eliminate the first two listed for the crime of Not Being Very Long, we also include Fuze - Beyond Voltage 3 (drum & bass mix by A-Sides) and Miles Davis Live in 1958. That's ignoring lots of downloading, including the whole Japanese import version of RZA's Ghost Dog soundtrack and most or all of the upcoming DJ Shadow.

Martin Skidmore, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I bought a Young Fresh Fellows album last Sunday. That's about it since the last time I posted.

These are the last things I remember getting, but most of them were gifts, but I liked them. Cruising - Michael Nesmith; Love Hurts - Nazareth; actually I wish I was listening to both of those songs now; and I bought 'U Remind Me' by Usher, and some cheap CD of Eddie Cochran that I didn't listen to much, plus I got a Buddy Holly greatest hits record recently.

nathalie, Saturday, 6 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Andy do you mean M. Mayer?? Does he have an album out??!?

Indeed. It's a mix album with Selway, Phantom/Ghost, Akufen, M. Rahn, Carsten Jost, etc. And it's spectacular. I've listened to it every day for the last week. It's definitely up there with the recent mixes by Hawtin, Weatherall, Dan Bell, etc.
