I hope he's put more effort into these tracks than he has the cover art...

sean gramophone, Wednesday, 8 June 2011 00:06 (fifteen years ago)

that little melody in the transition is the best part

On a phone with no flash. Are these downloadable at all?

i like body work alright. feels like an album track tho

lebroner (D-40), Wednesday, 8 June 2011 00:34 (fifteen years ago)

or some element is missing

lebroner (D-40), Wednesday, 8 June 2011 00:34 (fifteen years ago)

it feels like a co-producer is missing

Jacques_Lamure, Wednesday, 8 June 2011 00:35 (fifteen years ago)

they definitely sound like they were finished last night at 3am when he was drunk off patron and half-distractedly chatting with fans on the internet

Jacques_Lamure, Wednesday, 8 June 2011 00:35 (fifteen years ago)

Am I the only one that's way into these? I'm listening to them on nice headphones and they sound incredible. And "Fuck My Brains Out" is the funkiest thing I think I've ever heard from him.

Evan R, Wednesday, 8 June 2011 00:37 (fifteen years ago)

i like them more with every listen, which is pretty much always the case with dream stuff for me.

must say, though, i'm glad i don't really mind 'odious' lyrics a la make-up bag. because fuck my brains out is pretty odious

Jacques_Lamure, Wednesday, 8 June 2011 00:39 (fifteen years ago)

I don't think they're gonna be on the album anyway

Number None, Wednesday, 8 June 2011 00:43 (fifteen years ago)

have been letting these spin for the last hour or so, and liking them more than i did at first. "body work" is dece but slight. i guess it works okay, but hardly stands out, feels generic. "fuck my brains out" is fucking repulsive, and i wish i could get past that, cuz evan's right, it's a funky-ass track.

so FMBO rips prince on the bridge, obviously, but the delivery of "she know i'm a virgo, and i'm impossible to please" reminds me of ... something. shit, i can't put my finger on it! bugging the hell out of me.

contenderizer, Wednesday, 8 June 2011 00:56 (fifteen years ago)

why does he start meowing

i feel like i'll like these more after they go around a few times, sure. and yeah lick it/stick it is sorta a blunt new low.

stately, plump bunk moreland (schlump), Wednesday, 8 June 2011 01:17 (fifteen years ago)

lol i wonder if terius/anyone is aware of the new t-pain song "booty work" that goes "lemme see that booty work"

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 8 June 2011 02:27 (fifteen years ago)

im not feeling particularly repulsed by fuck my brains out tbh. i mean its gross and mean but...

☂ (max), Wednesday, 8 June 2011 02:32 (fifteen years ago)

also i mean it fucking bangs, so, its pretty easy to overlook how gross hes being

☂ (max), Wednesday, 8 June 2011 02:32 (fifteen years ago)

eh who cares

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 8 June 2011 02:32 (fifteen years ago)

it's a post-odd future world, let's get real

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 8 June 2011 02:33 (fifteen years ago)

that song is everywhere and i've always strongly suspected t-pain's success was what gave terius the confidence to embark on a solo career, so yeah definitely (xpost)

Shippie_Ipley_Dope (some dude), Wednesday, 8 June 2011 02:33 (fifteen years ago)

alright i didn't know if "booty work" was getting play elsewhere -- i've only seen "best love song" on the charts, which i've never heard

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 8 June 2011 02:34 (fifteen years ago)

"body work" is kinda cool, tho not much of a song -- FMBO is pretty great i think

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 8 June 2011 02:35 (fifteen years ago)

yeah Terius sent some song to T-Pain on ustream last night, I think it was "body work" - maybe he's on the remix

The Brainwasher, Wednesday, 8 June 2011 02:35 (fifteen years ago)

yeah it's not charting real high nationally yet but i'm already sick of it -- which is weird because i love the omarion song it's a shameless rehash of

Shippie_Ipley_Dope (some dude), Wednesday, 8 June 2011 02:36 (fifteen years ago)

okay, so i've spent nearly three hours with these on endless repeat, and i'm feeling p much at home. neither's great, but both solid, FMBO a bit better than that. and now that i've innoculated myself w lol desensitization germs, gross lyrics aren't really a problem. still a bit disappointed. neither track touches love king's highs.

and yeah, wtf is up with that "meh meh meh yeah" break between songs? is he anticipating his critics?

contenderizer, Wednesday, 8 June 2011 03:09 (fifteen years ago)

contenderizer, Wednesday, 8 June 2011 03:15 (fifteen years ago)

I like both, but my first impression is mostly how heavy they are sonically compared to most of his work. Really thick and bass-dominant.

Spo-Dee-O-Dee-Dopaliscious! (The Reverend), Wednesday, 8 June 2011 04:44 (fifteen years ago)

Really perplexed by the "meh, meh, meh, yeah" part.

Spo-Dee-O-Dee-Dopaliscious! (The Reverend), Wednesday, 8 June 2011 04:51 (fifteen years ago)

Some of the production details on "Fuck My Brains Out" are amazing. That quick, cascading bass synth during the second verse!

wtf MEH MEH MEH MEH?

And the piano, it sounds like a carnivore (contenderizer), Wednesday, 8 June 2011 06:10 (fifteen years ago)

i entertain this fantasy that artists who seem gifted in one area will possess overarching aesthetic ~visions~ that work in and connect with other contexts, that talented musicians will be able, for instance, to recognize and even produce good graphic design and prose. i suppose that this is a elitist fantasy, in that it snootily elevates what i take to be a "refined artistic sensibility" (harumph) over sheer will and/or the accidental gifts of providence.

then along comes this web site to settle my hash

And the piano, it sounds like a carnivore (contenderizer), Wednesday, 8 June 2011 06:13 (fifteen years ago)

u ever seen a dream video?

ha

Spo-Dee-O-Dee-Dopaliscious! (The Reverend), Wednesday, 8 June 2011 06:25 (fifteen years ago)

well i'll be involuntarily singing "fuck my brains out" in inappropriate situations for the foreseeable future then

i love 'body work'

the-dream's car of the summer (tpp), Wednesday, 8 June 2011 14:04 (fifteen years ago)

Idg what contenderizer's issue w "fmbo" is - this is like textbook dreamisms

Fwiw I think body work is boring and if anyone else released it we'd be all "this sucks"

Fmbo is p dope though, although obv the-dream is an all time rmde when it comes to a personality

lebroner (D-40), Wednesday, 8 June 2011 14:05 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, most of it is either good or great, actually. 40 tracks is a lot to get through in between Christmas preparations though and terius starting it all off with orgasmic moans (a low point) means I won’t be playing this in the kitchen while the kids are home for the holidays.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Saturday, 22 December 2018 09:26 (seven years ago)

I'm gonna try to hear it all by Xmas Day. (Or XXX Day, as Mr. Nash would have it.)

just hearing radio killa again is nice & all i need honestly

johnny crunch, Monday, 24 December 2018 01:24 (seven years ago)

I listened to the whole thing yesterday, but I also went back to his first two solo albums and parts of his third for a sense of contrast.

So: this new behemoth is nice, you know? It's atmospheric and at the least has a skein of what most of us love about him but honestly it's lavish mood music for a stoned orgy - not the concentrated doses of T. Nash that one might desire. I'll definitely come back to this, though.

Groove(box) Denied (Raymond Cummings), Monday, 24 December 2018 01:33 (seven years ago)

(That said, there ARE standouts, and hopefully he'll whittle this down to a 10-12 track collection.)
