They're just ever so slightly too *off* to be proper grace notes, but it's the slight off-ness of them that makes them such ear candy. And I miss them when the song settles down to its cosmic juggernaut groove, and it's so exciting when they pop back up mid kosmische groove. So more-ish.

Ha ha, we need Owen in here to explain the proper difference between grace notes, acciaccaturas and appoggiaturae.

I'm still trying to work out if there's a portamento or not. it's delicious.

Grace note is kinda the umbrella term, I just wanted to write "acciaccatura" because it's such a pleasing word.

i only REALLY understood it when i danced to it at a party. and only when i couldn't put my finger on what it 'is' (trainspotting as self defense etc), i realized this is a proper unclassic dance anthem (of 'knights of the jaguar' proportions), but in EXTREME slow motion. it's totally fucking with temporality, i think. it's almost like it has managed to exist only through creating a loophole through time, escaping a nanosecond before the canon of the dance has completely closed.

on this note, let's recall terje's 'eurodans' -- which compared to this sounds a bit amateurish, but still unabashedly euphoric. it produced one of my favorite youtube moments, which still sends immediate party shivers down my spine (00:36):

I was actually thinking about this yesterday and: Because the Swedish Google translator voice says "tear-yeh," combined with the fact that his track "Terjelator" goes "it's time for the tear-yeh-lator" has led me to conclude this is the correct pronunciation.

i played Snooze 4 Love out for the first time last nite. it was at my hotel lobby lounge/bar gig as it was emptying out and there were only a few couples huddled on sofas in dark corners, it was really, really nice. i think i'd only listened to it once before that and then went back to the other two joints on the 12" but i've been listening to it all day today.

related: earlier in the nite, i was playing Todd Todd Terje's "Kul I Pul" and a cocktail waitress came up to me and said "CAN YOU BURN A CD OF THE SONG YOU ARE PLAYING RIGHT NOW"

turns out that a Moroccan Prince is staying at the hotel for a whole month with his 20-person entourage and the hotel staff is bending over backwards waiting on him hand and foot. and i guess dude wanted a copy of that song, i burned him a cd and wrote TODD TERJE - "KUL I PUL" on it and handed it to the cocktail waitress who thanked me profusely.

I saw two shady looking Todd terje comps at amoeba last week. One was 2 discs and looked like it had pretty much every edit he released. Can't remember much about the other one but it was all prev. released stuff (not remaster of the universe)

Did this guy just retire or something? The really excellent new Prins Thomas record is making me pine for Terje. He was completely untouchable for a good four or five years there. It's now been six years since he's dropped something. Is he a family man now on a farm or something? Is he secretly composing his "Ram"? I've also been a bit baffled by this, so after digging awhile back I found a reddit thread asking the same question from a couple of years ago and this was an answer: "Someone asked him whether he has any new music coming soon on his Instagram recently. He said 'nope' :( really broke my heart."
