considering Jay's beef w/ Prodigy
yeah, but the top 20 is full of NY rappers who've feuded with each other, and i'm assuming Reasonable Doubt beat Infamous

I'm sorry but every time I see that picture of Eric B I kind of laugh

hahahahahaha omg the idea that Odd Future is gonna be anywhere near this poll
I mean, there's hype and then... there's reality

I think Cube was really pissed after the Predator came out and no one in the rap world had his back against all the criticism--plus the decrease in political content in rap overall. Probably explains his retreat into G-Funk and dumb ass West boosterism.
― President Keyes, Friday, 3 June 2011 16:52 (fifteen years ago)
So did Eric B actually do anything on that album?
held the money
― backpacker van beethoven (Edward III), Friday, 3 June 2011 16:53 (fifteen years ago)
No arguing with these. Every time I think "too low" something else great comes along.
xp For me The Predator is inextricably bound up with seeing the LA riots on TV (though obviously it came later) - moreso even than PE, it gave me the sense that hip hop was both predicting and reflecting on real-world events (although, as Keyes just said, that turned out to be the end of an era). Such an intoxicating sensation. Also, great skits. "You won, G." "Won what?" "The wet T-shirt contest motherfucker!"
― We need to talk about Bevan (DL), Friday, 3 June 2011 16:53 (fifteen years ago)
did strictly business make this list? im too lazy to view the entire thread.
― Bert Macklin, F.B.I. (thebingo), Friday, 3 June 2011 16:54 (fifteen years ago)
I was listening to eazy-e a lot before I heard straight outta compton, and even though I knew what to expect from nwa it was still completely shocking + unprecedented. I remember my buddy running into the radio station preview room waving it in the air and dashing for the turntables, we couldn't get it on fast enough.
so yeah, it's way uneven, and I kinda hated how it stomped the variety out of hip-hop for years, but as a cultural hand grenade you can't front on it.
xp * 10MM

ever have an album you like everything about except the way it sounds, like the actual frequencies it puts out? that's me with fear of a black planet. I like the songs, the rhymes, etc, but the production job on it keeps me at a distance. every couple of years I go back to it hoping I can get with it but so far, no.
love "welcome to the terrordome" tho.
