I remember when this dropped and "capping on fools" was all the rage. Like however many good and unique ya mama jokes you could come up with and how effective you were as a "clowner" determined your status around campus. Then I heard Ya Mama and my life was flipped upside down, I had a trunk load of material that no one knew about, my status rose very quickly, ladies jocked, etc.

Good run of albums I placed in my own top 30. I thought ATLiens might have placed further down.

The skits are pretty rough. Easy to skip though.

I don't rate anything after Stankonia.

Oh, I forgot Idlewild. I'm sure I'm not the only one. (Though The Train is A+)

Idlewild is better than The Love Below. Not really saying much with that statement.

Have love for so much of Stankonia though. Snappin & Trappin, Gasoline Dreams, Humble Mumble, Slum Beautiful + all the singles + all the other ones.

I think I voted Stankonia over Aquemini but am fine with any of their first four placing, all are really solid, consistently amazing

Love Below is such a ... problem. their are a lot of good ideas on it and a handful of great hooks/tracks but EVERY song is like a minute longer than it should be, and the more obvious "experiments" (I can do drum n bass! I can play acoustic guitar! I like jazz!) mar the album really badly

Top 3 times I listened to ATLiens:

3. The third time I bought the cd because it had been stolen twice: I was 16, had just gotten my driving license, and had my best friend (also big into Outkast) with me. We couldnt find it anywhere and after hours we finally found it at a local Wherehouse store. Paid $18 for it, steeeep. It had been a few months since it had been stolen so I hadnt listened for a while. Anyway, we drove in complete silence all the way to Monterey CA (about 30 minutes) and back without hitting skip once. Fell in love with the album all over again.

2. The night I graduated high school, after the all night party; the dudes and I rolled back to my friends house (about 7 am) where we had lounged pretty much every day for the last 12 years. We popped in ATLiens, put it on blast, and played another few hours of Golden Eye. Just laughing, being teenagers, having that feeling of 'will things be the same ever again.'

1. The first time I heard it when I was 14. Was at a friends house who had a proper stereo and was way into rap, which I loved, but wasn't fully obsessed with yet. He showed me the cd with the naked chick on it and said "you gotta hear this." He put it in the changer and played the title cut. That single listening experience shifted my music taste completely.
