No, this is awful. And I love "Lollipop."

my beautiful dark twisted fennessey (rennavate), Thursday, 26 May 2011 18:11 (fifteen years ago)

You really think it's worse than the stuff he released off of Rebirth?

MarkoP, Thursday, 26 May 2011 18:24 (fifteen years ago)

My 11 year old son wrote a story for school entitled "The Best Day Ever" that involved him meeting some friends and one of them giving him Tha Carter IV. The teacher corrected "Tha" to "The".

I do. Rebirth was an ugly album, but at least Wayne full sold that material; there was an energy and enthusiasm to it that I found endearing, even if I didn't much care for the actual music. But this... yikes.

Evan R, Thursday, 26 May 2011 18:38 (fifteen years ago)

what the shit is this? wow how terrible

Blink 187um (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 26 May 2011 21:06 (fifteen years ago)

i like this a lot -- this is kinda much closer to, like, "mrs. officer" to me than "lollipop"

J0rdan S., Thursday, 26 May 2011 22:33 (fifteen years ago)

interested in who wrote this

J0rdan S., Thursday, 26 May 2011 22:33 (fifteen years ago)

this could be a ne-yo song

J0rdan S., Thursday, 26 May 2011 22:33 (fifteen years ago)

theoretically speaking

J0rdan S., Thursday, 26 May 2011 22:33 (fifteen years ago)

This is the worst Wayne single ever:

yeah this is infinitely better than any single off 'i'm not a human being'

J0rdan S., Thursday, 26 May 2011 22:34 (fifteen years ago)

when those backing synths come in i feel like i'm listening to destroyer

tomorrow, Thursday, 26 May 2011 22:39 (fifteen years ago)

I was going to say that people who think this is his worst single ever have been pretty fortunate to have ignored everything he's released since Carter III. I'm with jordan, I like this.

'what are you, the Hymen Protection League of America?' (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Thursday, 26 May 2011 22:51 (fifteen years ago)

it's inoffensive but there's nothing to like about it

bernard snowy, Thursday, 26 May 2011 22:52 (fifteen years ago)

I wish I were listening to destroyer

bernard snowy, Thursday, 26 May 2011 22:52 (fifteen years ago)

that chord progression gets really old really fast

bernard snowy, Thursday, 26 May 2011 22:52 (fifteen years ago)

destroyer: more interesting chord progressions than lil wayne

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Thursday, 26 May 2011 23:51 (fifteen years ago)

geir needs to take our boi 2 skool get him up on some real shit

this song is ultra boring, needs more augs and sus chords IMO

Blink 187um (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 26 May 2011 23:53 (fifteen years ago)

i wonder if wayne has learned any chords on the guitar he's been playing for the past 4 years yet

I didn't say that! I just said that this song is repetitive and boring!

bernard snowy, Friday, 27 May 2011 05:54 (fifteen years ago)

destroyer songs are just as repetitive in terms of chords obviously, they just have better grooves+arrangements
lil wayne's flow is still better than dan bejar's tho I'll give him that

bernard snowy, Friday, 27 May 2011 05:57 (fifteen years ago)

I like "Megaman".... otherwise, this album is really awful. I mean, I wasn't expecting much but his rapping is like... Uncle Murda levels of terrible.

my own private kanyes west (The Brainwasher), Thursday, 25 August 2011 01:31 (fourteen years ago)

I mean, even 'Megaman' has the punchlines "Have it your way... BURGER KING" and "Tools on deck nigga... HOME DEPOT"

my own private kanyes west (The Brainwasher), Thursday, 25 August 2011 01:40 (fourteen years ago)

i'm kind of curious whether this album will or can be seen as any kind of failure, like the buzz around it seemed so muted even before the leak despite him being on the radio more than ever

some dude, Thursday, 25 August 2011 01:46 (fourteen years ago)

when it waynes it pours no really

johnny crunch, Thursday, 25 August 2011 01:47 (fourteen years ago)

surprise three stacks verse, at least!

Jacques_Lamure, Thursday, 25 August 2011 01:47 (fourteen years ago)

xp if it doesn't do 4-500k I think it'll be looked at as a commercial failure, at least.

my own private kanyes west (The Brainwasher), Thursday, 25 August 2011 01:49 (fourteen years ago)

there are some good guest verses on here yeah, Nas' verse is great. Jada's is cool too.

I barely made it through the song that the various hip hop blogs are claiming is a "Jay-Z diss" - what does he say, exactly?
(I had to bail after "I lay 'em down.... TEMPURPEDIC")
