New from the DFA...

interesting. kinda lost track of them. the single off the 2nd album was pretty good (get myself into it)

that new invisible conga people single is pretty cool, especially the main mix of In a Hole

second rapture album was pretty good, didn't realise they were still a live prospect though

Anyone know if anyone from the DFA camp had any production input on the new Rapture LP?

It doesn't look as though they did which sort of seems a bit of a strange move if it's produced by "Phoenix producer/Cassius member Philippe Zdar produced the record, which the Rapture recorded in Brooklyn and Paris."

I thought the Ewan Pearson production on the last LP was a massive let down and didn't really see this band getting much further from Echoes if they didn't work with Murphy directly again.

i'd be really surprised if that rapture album ends up being any good.

for those that missed the beats in space, not only is there a crystal ark single coming out next week, but gavin russom is putting another one out in august

any US/Euro ppl who've bought the Holy Ghost! album - does it come in a plain jewel case in your territories?

The Rapture also had a major lineup change sine the last album - bassist/vocalist Mattie Safer out; ex-Q and Not U co-front guy Harris Klahr in.

the b-sides on the Gabriel single are all pretty great too. between this single and all the Youth Group stuff I'm REALLY looking forward to his album.

slept on so much dfa over the last few months, just really beginning to catch up on the big hitters. still haven't heard the holy ghost album despite how much i was anticipating it. couldn't believe it when i saw it in record shops before i even knew it was released.

The Rewards/Solange collab-o_O is excellent despite being hipster-bait. I've already had to endure a conversation about how much braver and more interesting a singer Solange is than her singer.

BUT it is still fantastic.

than her sister obv.

Especially when it cuts to that stabbing house bassline, the strummy guitar chords and pizzicato strings.

Yeah, i think i would have dismissed it if it wasn't for the recommendations in this thread (and the DFA association probably). I actually like Hot Chip at times, but i listened to Goddard's solo album when it came out and i remember finding it actively irritating and pretty much everything that Alexis Taylor has done outside the group has been mediocre.

missed this! no they weren't, but Gabriel is in the exact same position of DFA licensing it for foreign because they like it - it's on Goddard's own label Greco-Roman in the UK
