Reverend OTM. And whenever someone says "Don't bring politics into this," that usually means politics needs to be brought into it.

I didn't like the bonus tracks tbh, they all seem v undercooked compared to the album proper.

finally watched Born Free after having avoided it for months now (out of fear that it would undermine my pretty positive of her when I don't listen to the lyrics)

five months pass...

guesting on Madonna's new album supposedly.

piscesx, Thursday, 27 October 2011 19:12 (fourteen years ago)

three months pass...

Huh:

MIA has confirmed that she will be performing with Madonna and Nicki Minaj at the halftime show at the 2012 Super Bowl in Indianapolis on February 5.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 30 January 2012 23:42 (fourteen years ago)

MIA's fourth album, which is the follow-up to her 2010 record 'Maya', is rumoured to feature contributions from Swizz Beatz, Cataracs and Chris Brown.

okay I'm gettin off this bus

Yeah. I already heard the rumour and I'm already KMT about the whole thing.

Honestly, Cataracs might be enough. I don't dislike their role in Dev or G6 or whatever, but it just seems like a wrongheaded move.

I really liked /\/\ /\ Y /\ and there were a bunch of fruitful directions on Vicki Leekx. This isn't one of them, imo.

at least "Bad Girls" is dope tho

I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Monday, 30 January 2012 23:49 (fourteen years ago)

yeah I like all her albums a lot, maybe MAYA the most tbh. but this does not sound interesting.

rumore doesn't sway me, will wait and see

Bad Girls is dope, but of the two tracks off Vicki Leekx that felt like actual songs, 'GEN -N-E-Y' felt like something she hadn't really done before.

Bad Girls is awesome, but it could have slotted in no problem in KALA.

Meme Rogers (DL), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 10:19 (fourteen years ago)

I feel like I've heard that song from countless other people before. I hope she isn't try to step back from doing "difficult" songs like she did with her mixtape and last album. Why all of a sudden there is an expectation of her being commercially successful?

*Looks at Wikipedia page of "Paper Planes"*

Oh shit the song was that popular???? Well OK then.

sounds like a more 'pop' Steppin Up. bit boring tbf. i hope a proper version of Gen NEY proper is on this album though.

piscesx, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 20:37 (fourteen years ago)

"Bad Girls" was on the Vicki Leekx mixtape from Dec '10 and was one of the songs used to promote it.

I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 20:47 (fourteen years ago)

indeed. this is the finished version off the album supposedly, it's produced by Danja whoever that might be.

piscesx, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 21:07 (fourteen years ago)

With Timbaland, Hills produced a wide catalog of songs that helped return the famous producer to prominence in 2006 with an ongoing string of hits throughout the year until present, including "Put You On The Game" by rapper The Game, "Promiscuous" and "Say It Right" by Nelly Furtado, "SexyBack", "What Goes Around...Comes Around" and "My Love" by Justin Timberlake among others, such as "Love Story" by Katharine McPhee, "Innocence" and "Earth Intruders" by Björk, and "Give It to Me" and "The Way I Are" off Timbaland's second solo album.[5]

In 2007, Danja produced "Gimme More" for Britney Spears, as well as "Break the Ice" and five other tracks for her Blackout album. The following year, he produced "Kill the Lights" and four other songs for Britney Spears' album Circus, but only three songs appeared on the album.

His works in recent years include, Madonna, "4 Minutes", Mariah Carey on her song "Migrate" from E=MC², Keri Hilson on her song "Knock You Down" from In a Perfect World..., P!nk on her song "Sober" from Funhouse.

I love the video

I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Friday, 3 February 2012 18:35 (fourteen years ago)

tbh i would be quite happy if the video just consisted of the bit where she's dressed in black in front of the bonfire for the entire length of the track. she is stunning.

lol and the screenshot for the vid is DJP's fav bit!

pandemic, Friday, 3 February 2012 18:45 (fourteen years ago)

The video is great. Wonder why noone thought of making a music video of people doing the two wheel stunt before.

It reminds me of Beyonce's 'run the world' but this one is actually fun to watch and it probably was 1/20 of the production costs of Beyonce.

Moka, Friday, 3 February 2012 18:48 (fourteen years ago)

genuinely surprised people love it. it looks like an advert to me

Adverts can be fun to watch.

Moka, Friday, 3 February 2012 18:51 (fourteen years ago)

Also crosspost from the Madonna thread. MIA as a cheerleader... her contribution is pretty much null but she looks great.
