big demographic is also people who "used to like rap when it was good" and who would never listen to any new rap.

"when it was good" any time between 1980 and 2000.

A touch tangential but of relevance (Tyler's mentioned along with a link to Lex's Guardian piece.)

my little brother is 19 (ten years younger) and uses "gay" as a pejorative all the time. i also have a mate at work who will say things like "my email's gayed up" or "hmmm... something seems to have gone agay". it doesn't really bother me because i don't actually think they hate gay people, it's just a verbal tic they picked up at school or whatever.

oh, and i think "goblin" is awes. i admit it could be 15 mins shorter, though.

flopson, Thursday, 12 May 2011 22:24 (fifteen years ago)

bought a copy of goblin today. when I walked into the local indie chain record store, two other guys were coming in with me, turns out they were looking for goblin too. the store was out of the deluxe version, had 3 copies left of the regular version. so I bailed and headed over to best buy. there was 1 copy left there.

nice packaging.

Gonna be interesting when all the press hype about whether these guys will sell records becomes a deciding factor in their ability to sell records

then again they could just say fuck it and continue to give away their records.

I never pay attention to this kind of shit, does anybody know the correlation between billboard and itunes charts? goblin's still floating around in the itunes top 10. between that, my anecdotal record shop visits, and the number of ilxors running out and buying, I'm guessing this thing is moving some units. enough to chart top 10?

the first rule of debate club (Edward III), Friday, 13 May 2011 16:37 (fifteen years ago)

okay so it looks like it's going to chart...
