― Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 8 September 2003 14:47 (twenty-two years ago)

― Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 8 September 2003 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)
This thread would be no different had the quote been made by one of Britney's male counterparts, from Timberlake to Rob Thomas. Idiocy knows no gender distinction.

― RJG (RJG), Monday, 8 September 2003 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)
does it actually make any difference either way? Lets face it, ppl can support or disapprove of the person in power but its all to do with what happens during the election, or which name you cross at the ballot.
If she criticised him there would be lots of cynicism round here too.
― Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 8 September 2003 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)
No, it doesn't. Well, I'm glad we got that cleared up.

Actually, you couldn't be more wrong about that one Julio, she'd have shot up in my estimation exponentially - it would have been a genuinely brave and surprising thing to say whereas no-one's suprised or cares if some tit like Thom Yorke or Damon Albarn does it.

― Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 8 September 2003 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)
That said, however, I still think "idiot" is applicable due to her adherence to supporting "EVERY decision" by the President. That doesn't show any deep understanding or concern about specific issues, but rather a voluntary decision to let someone else sweat the hard stuff and not get involved...or even informed...at all.

And her "dead-on-a-toilet" phase, as described in Wayne's World.

I can’t believe the right has not seized upon a narrative that Britney’s rights were taken away because she gave a pro-bush interview to tucker
― Muswell Hillbilly Elegy (President Keyes), Sunday, 18 July 2021 20:28 (four years ago)
I doubt today’s “right” is looking to pull Bush/Iraq out of the memory hole (or dredge up a Britney comment no one remembers)

It was how I felt then, and it's how I feel now. Do I feel bad about her conservatorship situation? Sure, but that doesn't mean I suddenly think she's eligible for Mensa membership.
