It's a great track. Didn't they have a Christmas song too?

ratty, Wednesday, 11 January 2006 05:26 (twenty years ago)

I remember this tune. Had a mate who went on about this amazing song(we all knew he had dodgy taste) finally he played it to us and we all fell about laughing. Especially when he said here is the good bit and it was just the same as the rest of it.

Last Of The Famous International Pfunkboys (Kerr), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 05:28 (twenty years ago)

That's them????

It took FIVE people to make this track?

adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 05:29 (twenty years ago)

5 of them??? so not what i expected. apart from the BRICK WALL

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 05:30 (twenty years ago)

Well my guess is you have a Prodigy sitation here. One person is making the music and the other four are dancers and/or mc's, going 'Rave it to the maximum!' in Dutch accents.

ratty, Wednesday, 11 January 2006 05:42 (twenty years ago)

My guess is that the muso in this band is the one on the far right - does anyone know? My reasoning is that he looks a little introspective, and, for that matter, a little like Liam Howlett of the Prodge.

ratty, Wednesday, 11 January 2006 05:43 (twenty years ago)

poing!

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 05:44 (twenty years ago)

my money's on the blonde.

2 columbus circle in 1964 (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 05:44 (twenty years ago)

adam is such a tease...what is this a 14 minute number?

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 05:46 (twenty years ago)

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 06:23 (twenty years ago)

why this song was not top ten on the 90s OMGWTFLOL(ROFFLE) poll will eternally be a mystery to me

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 08:40 (twenty years ago)

What year was it released?

adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 16:13 (twenty years ago)

I remember Steve Wright, when he was the breakfast DJ on Radio 1 just before Chris Evans, used to have an 'unsigned' spot, for bands to get their track played on-air. One day, it was the Rotterdam T/S, and "Poing".

The rest is history.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 16:16 (twenty years ago)

Big Hogleg??

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 16:18 (twenty years ago)

cancer prone fat guy (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 16:21 (twenty years ago)

I remember me and Lawrence Denim trying to outdo each other in praise of this record's brilliance.

Momus (Momus), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 18:12 (twenty years ago)

Where?

adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 18:17 (twenty years ago)

I remember this played on MTV when I was like twelve. Me and my friends were just getting into dance music and we loved it! I have onyl the faintest recollection of the video though, was it some sort of early computer animation with bright colours?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 19:14 (twenty years ago)

Thanks, Adam!

You know despite my claiming to be all knowing about this upthread, I had remembered it as someone actually saying "Poing" over and over. That'll teach me.

Jeff W, Wednesday, 11 January 2006 19:28 (twenty years ago)

Whoa.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 19:31 (twenty years ago)

Momus, Lawrence Felt and Steve Wright, that's one unholy trinity.

'Rotterdam Termination Source' are back, joining forces with 'Human Resource' to respark a new wave of Hardcore Old Skool. After a successful comeback appearence on Oct 4th in Zaandam, Holland, Maurice Steenbergen (RTS), Guido Pernet (HR) these forces have united to revive the still existant old skool scene. Along with 'T99' Vocalist Zeno Zevenbergen this looks like a unstoppable team ready to 'Dominate the World' once more

That's like the ultimate dream team!

"Poinginatorthesia" coming soon...

In Nov 1992 it got to #27 on the UK charts. It were all mental back then.

moley, Monday, 21 January 2008 05:18 (eighteen years ago)

The best part is the breakdown where it goes POOOING POOOING POOOING POOOING POOOING POOOING POOOING POOOING at half-tempo, then revs back up.
yes, easily the best bit.

haitch, Monday, 21 January 2008 05:25 (eighteen years ago)

moley you should cover this song

moley, Monday, 21 January 2008 05:31 (eighteen years ago)

Let's not forget 'Here's Johnny' by Hocus Pocus, which got to number 1 in Australia round the same time. It was a great era for novelty rave productions.

moley, Monday, 21 January 2008 05:41 (eighteen years ago)

Novelty rave, come back! We miss you.

In Nov 1992 it got to #27 on the UK charts. It were all mental back then.

Not only that, but MTV Europe played it all the time during prime time. Can you imagine MTV playing anything like that today? (Supposing that they'd still play music videos, of course.)

Tuomas, Monday, 21 January 2008 08:03 (eighteen years ago)

this song is godlike

Can you imagine MTV playing anything like that today?

They totally would, considering they're happily playlisting the shit out of Boten Anna and Gunther.

foul bachelor frogbs (electricsound), Friday, 8 April 2011 03:56 (fifteen years ago)

answered my own question, seems it's from 98. oh well.

foul bachelor frogbs (electricsound), Friday, 8 April 2011 03:58 (fifteen years ago)

Their band shot had like five people in it, as I recall. I mean, really? There shouldn't even have been any humans in the band shot. Just a smiley face on a spring.

moley, Friday, 8 April 2011 04:07 (fifteen years ago)

you posted the band pic five years ago!
