Lone is closer to the Black Dog than Boards of Canada, everything I've heard isn't really like the latter at all.

Well his first album was basically a BOC homage - hip-hop drums pared with analog synths. The recent stuff has the same nostalgic vibe but with more of a 90's techno underpinning.

I must have the first album as I'd filed him next to Freescha. So I might need to check this out. Never really got into the Black Dog but am a massive fan of Plaid, so...

Lone's latest album is more in the B12/Stasis/As One/Likeminded vein of 90s UK "intelligent" techno as Vahid alluded to back thread, and well worth checking out

"pr812" is the track that made me go whoa in the mix but i think "i make lists" might be even better, proper freestyle influence - love the way the mix closes with it after opening with debbie deb

I feel like the world has moved on since the Night Slugs wars of 2010 but if this is the direction the genre's taking in 2011 I'll be happy. Still not mad keen on the fallback metallic bass noise they seemingly use all the time though.

The Ikonika mix is damn good, her mixes usualy are. The last one I heard of her's was: http://www.factmag.com/2010/11/29/fact-mix-206-ikonika/ which is on a par with it I'd say.

I enjoyed that Marcus set too its not an either/or thing for me. Although I like Petchy, Ill Blu, Funkystepz, Champion, etc loads better for my funky mixes. Marcus has been so shit at mixing when I've seen him live that I hardly tune in anymore to his show unless a load of people have been bigging up a recent one or something.

The first 20mins or so of the Marcus mix is great but I was listening before the Cup Final and stopped at kickoff, then forgot to go back to it. It's more fun than the Ikonika mix obv.
