mosca - like this, it's colourful and ~classy~ and vaguely minatory

lil silva - like the ardkore stylings, it's the sort of thing hacks would describe as 'dayglo' had the klaxons never existed

girl unit (bok bok rmx) - oh no, dubstep

kingdom - the part where the vocal gradually materializes through the distortion abt two minutes in is rather impressive, otherwise less so

l-vis 1990 - synthy ardkore peaks nice, rest a bit thin for five minutes

jam city - clear standout, gazing with cold dead eyes upon the night slug lessers like a hungry kestrel on a telegraph pole

I really dig (Baby I Don't Know) What You Want by Jacques something.

Don't actually like that Jam City track much, though i do enjoy other stuff of his that i've heard

yeah the jacques greene (ha very easy surname to remember for me, if not everybody else) track is the best

egyptrixx - really like this, crazy pitchbend and doppler effect trailloffs VERY oni ayhunish

bok bok and cubic zirconia - pretty good

optimum - not sure if there are any relevant opinions to be had about this track

Another Girl is totally totally ace. Will rep for Jacques Greene forever, though, as he spins with a bunch of my friends in MTL. His sets are basically ILM catnip. Nights Slugs type shit with chopped and screwed mixes of Ciara, Yamaha + assorted Terius, 'Motivation', Cassie's Skydiver, etc. etc. etc.

His remixes of Cassie's 'Must Be Love' and Katy B's 'Broken Record' are also keepers.

Egyptrixx's singles are pretty ace and his live show back in February or whatever was killer, but the full length album didn't blow me away.

I'm liking the Egyptrixx album so far, but I'm kind of taking it track by track.

Jacques Greene is the best producer associated with Night Slugs at the moment I reckon (assuming Nzungunzu don't count, and Girl Unit is hit-and-miss). Seems to understand the importance of colour and having bass that does something other than throb and glower. A lot of other Night Slugs stuff talks a good game with its technicolour sci-fi landscape synths and the music seems drab in comparison.

Really didn't like the Egyptrixx album at all, have yet to hear any Jam City that's done much for me.

Actually I really like Velour as well.

you know velour = hyetal + julio bashmore, right? i hadn't particularly loved them pre-velour but separately they're kind of blowing my mind this year - hyetal's album is amazing, bashmore's "battle for middle you" was already one of my favourite tracks of the year and then he followed it up with the fantastic batty knee dance ep...
