i miss miami!!

lex pretend, Friday, 6 May 2011 06:50 (fifteen years ago)

So Drumz and Friday aren't similiar lyrically? They're both pretty empty songs about being ready to party and have fun. Maybe Tim can give us 1000 words on how wrong i am and how Drumz is basically Subterranean Homesick Blues with a funky beat.

brotherlovesdub, Friday, 6 May 2011 15:53 (fifteen years ago)

I like it but the lyrics are no better than Friday.

brotherlovesdub, Friday, 6 May 2011 15:53 (fifteen years ago)

I haven't really listened to this song yet but unless it also sounds like it was written by someone who doesn't understand English very well, I'm willing to go along with the "you crazy" crowd.

Dreaded Burrito Gang (DJP), Friday, 6 May 2011 16:17 (fifteen years ago)

what is a good lyric

"Hungry clouds swag on the deep." — William Blake (bernard snowy), Friday, 6 May 2011 16:18 (fifteen years ago)

- memorable?
- relatable?
- striking?
- fun to sing along to?
- not-terrible?
- terrible, but in a strikingly memorable and relatable way that makes it fun to sing along to?

"Hungry clouds swag on the deep." — William Blake (bernard snowy), Friday, 6 May 2011 16:20 (fifteen years ago)

it's friday, friday,
friday I'm in love

but when saturday comes, baby
alls I'm in is trouble

eight days a week
and six ways from sunday

"Hungry clouds swag on the deep." — William Blake (bernard snowy), Friday, 6 May 2011 16:22 (fifteen years ago)

gotta get my bowl

good post. i often think rap gets a bad 'rap' even w/in the states for ppl who dont live near a major metro (or when the only major metro they live near is nyc)

love you like a frat kid loves Cake (Tape Store), Monday, 16 May 2011 02:21 (fifteen years ago)

the mixing is a lil weird but damn this is awesome -- so much tension in the beat

J0rdan S., Monday, 16 May 2011 03:16 (fifteen years ago)

this sounds like some uk funky ish

D-40, Monday, 16 May 2011 08:16 (fifteen years ago)

^yes

J0rdan S., Monday, 16 May 2011 12:14 (fifteen years ago)

again, does it really excite you guys more to make a weakly refracted analogy like that than about, idk, island pop filtering thru miami freestyle via the vibe music micro-ecology or something

i mean sure it does sound like crazy cousinz a bit but...

r|t|c, Monday, 16 May 2011 13:39 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, J0rdan should apologize for not being overly literal.

please banhammer, don't hurt 'em (The Reverend), Monday, 16 May 2011 16:37 (fifteen years ago)

that last post is some rtc madlibs -- not that he might not be right, but y'know

anyway i hope everyone thinks this is dope

J0rdan S., Monday, 16 May 2011 16:39 (fifteen years ago)

deej, rather xp

please banhammer, don't hurt 'em (The Reverend), Monday, 16 May 2011 16:45 (fifteen years ago)

yeah yeah, if i'm not contraristanning then i'm undecipherable, whatever

it's a cool song and when i hear it i think of 305 stuff (and things possibly pertaining) moreso than anything else - it's a minor point but i just found it strange people more entitled than i am would do otherwise

r|t|c, Monday, 16 May 2011 16:54 (fifteen years ago)

dj turn it up

when i say "vibe music" you know what i mean right?

r|t|c, Monday, 16 May 2011 16:58 (fifteen years ago)

wow i love this! i kinda think it sounds a little better on that radio rip though...?

teledyldonix, Monday, 16 May 2011 17:07 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, like i said i think the mixing on the youtube version is off

J0rdan S., Monday, 16 May 2011 17:09 (fifteen years ago)

Fwiw I just meant ' this uses bongos'

Beat sounds like the applause rhythm

D-40, Monday, 16 May 2011 17:27 (fifteen years ago)

I like this a lot -- it's right in my pop wheelhouse, sing-song girl vox/rhythm/minimal arrangement (see also "pon de replay," "never leave you," "move ya body," etc). But is it wrong to wish it had a more interesting beat? Not a whole lot going on in the rhythm dept. I have a feeling there'll be remixes I like better.

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Monday, 16 May 2011 18:23 (fifteen years ago)

KEEP IT JUMPIN LIKE A JUNKINOO

The Reverend, Monday, 30 May 2011 16:07 (fifteen years ago)

Loving this. Even though she's the guest singer she's the definite highlight in here. Curious to see what she'd do with a richer sound palette backing her.
