― And thusly create the illusion of babby (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 4 May 2011 23:18 (fifteen years ago)
Not a big fan of the last few tracks, it could pretty much end at "Sandwitches" for me. ("Analog" is nice though.)
― Simon H. Shit (Simon H.), Wednesday, 4 May 2011 23:30 (fifteen years ago)
The first half or two-thirds of this sounded good. Then I think it turned into thinkpiece bait, but I can't tell yet.

i'm not gonna be able to sit down with this for a few days :(

all the posts about cee-lo are tedious and nobody cares how well you can research chart positions on wikipedia
this thread has been awful for about the past month
― billstevejim, Thursday, 5 May 2011 05:28 (fifteen years ago)
lmao
― billstevejim, Thursday, 5 May 2011 05:29 (fifteen years ago)
i dunno, i like it almost all the way through. not in love with the "hotel california" and "electric feel" rewrites, so i just stop at "dust", but up to that point it all works for me. even like the coldplay cover. so, uh, who produced what here? understand that tricky did "novacane", but other than that? the "little red corvette" edge to "there will be tears" also reminds me slightly of tricky/terius.

"There Will Be Tears" is a Mr. Hudson track that he produced himself.

My mate just went to interview Tyler, who got in a bad mood because he wanted to go skating instead of doing press and smashed his skateboard up.
― PG Harpy (Doran), Thursday, 5 May 2011 17:14 (fifteen years ago)
album is kind of a chorei mo
― geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 5 May 2011 18:02 (fifteen years ago)
chore, imo
chorei = morning assembly in japanese corporations where the workers are taught how to THINK THE SAME = apt for this i guess
― lex pretend, Thursday, 5 May 2011 18:05 (fifteen years ago)
It is a bit...plodding. And awfully long.
― Number None, Thursday, 5 May 2011 18:09 (fifteen years ago)
album is a toro y moi
― bananas foster wallace (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 5 May 2011 18:39 (fifteen years ago)
Tyler's going to become the next Charles Hamilton is he?
― lilsoulbrother, Thursday, 5 May 2011 18:46 (fifteen years ago)
your mate should've bought him a trampoline imo
― puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Thursday, 5 May 2011 18:47 (fifteen years ago)
does OF start beef w/other rappers that might, like actually, retaliate or call them out (as opposed to BOB or bruno mars)
― coo coo khal (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 5 May 2011 18:54 (fifteen years ago)
apparently there are taylor swift rape jokes on the album :/
― lex pretend, Thursday, 5 May 2011 18:55 (fifteen years ago)
i would've totally taken him skating
xp: well that's charming
― Dreaded Burrito Gang (DJP), Thursday, 5 May 2011 18:56 (fifteen years ago)

― geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 5 May 2011 18:58 (fifteen years ago)

Dear Tyler
― geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 5 May 2011 19:00 (fifteen years ago)
haha
― bananas foster wallace (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 5 May 2011 19:00 (fifteen years ago)
i think deej's point (and mine) was that (if taylor notices/cares) she will assuredly call tyler out in song, lol
― lex pretend, Thursday, 5 May 2011 19:00 (fifteen years ago)
tyler swift
she should go in over the 'bitch in yoo' beat
― geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 5 May 2011 19:01 (fifteen years ago)
ha
― 3.5" flopson (The Reverend), Thursday, 5 May 2011 19:05 (fifteen years ago)
I am digging the beats and music, a lot actually. The raps not so much, he's indeed rather heavy on the fags/faggots etc. He should've ditched the Isaac Hayes-y 'voice-over' in the second song too. And this album is loooong.
The "kill people, burn shit, fuck skool" chorus in Radicals is laughably silly.
― Le Bateau Ivre, Thursday, 5 May 2011 19:14 (fifteen years ago)
I can't say I picked up on the T. Swift references.
― Simon H. Shit (Simon H.), Thursday, 5 May 2011 19:21 (fifteen years ago)
Me neither
― Le Bateau Ivre, Thursday, 5 May 2011 19:22 (fifteen years ago)
just saw an OF fan mention that on twitter, haven't listened yet (scheduled for tomorrow oh joy)
― lex pretend, Thursday, 5 May 2011 19:26 (fifteen years ago)
beats are plodding mostly
― geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 5 May 2011 19:27 (fifteen years ago)
there is a sexual taylor swift reference but it's consensual iirc
― tpp, Thursday, 5 May 2011 19:29 (fifteen years ago)
The most odiously rapey shit belongs to the other OFers on the album for the most part IIRC.
― Simon H. Shit (Simon H.), Thursday, 5 May 2011 19:31 (fifteen years ago)
The T Swift ref is on "Fish"
― Number None, Thursday, 5 May 2011 19:32 (fifteen years ago)
I have been tending to skip that one, as it's four minutes of plod followed by a "comedy" hidden track.
― Simon H. Shit (Simon H.), Thursday, 5 May 2011 19:33 (fifteen years ago)
consensual iirc
― gr8080, Thursday, 5 May 2011 20:30 (fifteen years ago)
agh just listened to a fake leak for like 9 minutes
― flopson, Thursday, 5 May 2011 20:37 (fifteen years ago)

― don't judge a book by its jpg (Edward III), Thursday, 5 May 2011 20:53 (fifteen years ago)
ok goblin (song) is basically terrible
― flopson, Thursday, 5 May 2011 20:55 (fifteen years ago)
downloaded and started to listen to goblin last night, but got distracted when a friend came over. he liked frank ocean better. the first impression i got was that tyler is trying a bit too hard (as he admits in the first track), and that the eminem influence shines through very clearly - both in subject matter and delivery. and that a little of the "my dad" shit goes a long way. people who simply have an issue are way more sympathetic than people who won't shut up about it. but i guess sympathy isn't really the point. and damn that intro track is long.
love the basic silliness of stuff like the "radicals" chorus - if it weren't for that i probably wouldn't put up with the more juvenile/calculated provocations.
― normal_fantasy-unicorns (contenderizer), Thursday, 5 May 2011 20:55 (fifteen years ago)
did aaron carter really make a rape joke about taylor swift
― puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Thursday, 5 May 2011 20:56 (fifteen years ago)
yeh. i take it as an intro that goes on way too long. and isn't funny or clever or anything. has a couple good lines.
