I love "hypnotico," "papi," "what is love" and "good hit"

The Brainwasher, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 08:45 (fifteen years ago)

there was a small mention of this in the UK top 40 poll from a few weeks back but this is pretty fucking great right here

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 May 2011 04:22 (fifteen years ago)

it sorta reminds me of those dance remixes of songs like "since u been gone" & "love story" except since it was conceived that way it works 100% and is a total anthem

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 May 2011 04:23 (fifteen years ago)

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 May 2011 04:25 (fifteen years ago)

"Hello" is from last summer.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 5 May 2011 04:28 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i know but i'm just hearing it on the radio now

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 May 2011 04:30 (fifteen years ago)

+ there were basically no ilx posts about it

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 May 2011 04:30 (fifteen years ago)

int'l music almost always takes forever & a day to circle back here (another example from this year would be don omar's awesome "danza kuduro") unless it's a female singer from england, & sometimes even then

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 May 2011 04:33 (fifteen years ago)

It's cool. Even though I heard it last summer (and liked the single they did together a couple years ago), it didn't really click with me until it showed up in a gum commercial on tv recently.

His new one is with Kele

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 5 May 2011 04:37 (fifteen years ago)

everyone should check out "danza kuduro" btw altho it looks like they talked about that one in the reggaeton thread last year

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 May 2011 04:39 (fifteen years ago)

Since we're talking about int'l stuff, this is from Sweden and sounds just enough like Robyn that I'm sure the lex will hate the shit out of it

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 5 May 2011 04:42 (fifteen years ago)

Just came across this freestyle throwback from Erodiscotique (Dimitri from Paris & Rocca collabo). Grrreat.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 5 May 2011 05:37 (fifteen years ago)

that erodiscotique ep is thoroughly marvellous

lex pretend, Thursday, 5 May 2011 07:23 (fifteen years ago)

I love that Solveig-Dragonette single, it's so "Voodoo Child" in the best possible way

ha ha ha ha jack my swag (boxedjoy), Friday, 6 May 2011 10:11 (fifteen years ago)

j lol (surm), Wednesday, 11 May 2011 15:44 (fifteen years ago)

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 11 May 2011 16:20 (fifteen years ago)

if i post here that makes me the next guy and i hates em

lex pretend, Wednesday, 11 May 2011 16:21 (fifteen years ago)

it's not like they outsold Sade's blockbuster 2010 album, they outsold Sade's second greatest hits compilation

some dude, Wednesday, 11 May 2011 16:50 (fifteen years ago)

i was hanging out with some friends of mine who are a year younger than me, and who listen to stuff i don't listen to. it was fun bc i got to ask them questions. i was like what do u think of fleet foxes, what do u think of vampire weekend, what do u think of arcade fire. i think the biggest responses were for fleet foxes and bon iver. people were like exclaiming and shit. this is not entirely relevant to this discussion, just sayin'.

j lol (surm), Wednesday, 11 May 2011 17:13 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, kids are pretty fuckin' stupid.

some dude, Wednesday, 11 May 2011 17:16 (fifteen years ago)

people were like exclaiming and shit.

love this

dayo, Wednesday, 11 May 2011 22:08 (fifteen years ago)

I guess this fits in the pop category? (It's probably better for the dilettante thread, but that thing is deadsville.) Anyway, this is Kauf's second track of the year and it makes me want to walk down the sidewalk Travolta-style in my own remake of Saturday Night Fever.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 13 May 2011 19:15 (fifteen years ago)

"E.T." aside this is probably the best top 5 the U.S. has had in a while imo:

1. Rolling In The Deep, Adele
2. E.T., Katy Perry Featuring Kanye West
3. The Edge Of Glory, Lady Gaga
4. Give Me Everything, Pitbull Featuring Ne-Yo, AfroJack & Nayer
5. Just Can't Get Enough, The Black Eyed Peas

some dude, Thursday, 19 May 2011 14:08 (fifteen years ago)

"give me everything" is surprisingly great

J0rdan S., Thursday, 19 May 2011 16:04 (fifteen years ago)

can't be resisting that beat when the chorus comes round

uberweiss, Thursday, 19 May 2011 16:58 (fifteen years ago)

just can't get enough might be the black eyed peas song i actually like

j lol (surm), Thursday, 19 May 2011 17:41 (fifteen years ago)

have all the ppl who hate on BEP endlessly ever heard "Weekend" or "Fallin' Up"?

I HAVE ISSUES (DJP), Thursday, 19 May 2011 17:43 (fifteen years ago)

(yes I know that's like a lifetime away from where they are now but it's not like they spent their entire career doing "I Gotta Feeling")

I HAVE ISSUES (DJP), Thursday, 19 May 2011 17:44 (fifteen years ago)

i don't know if i've heard those songs -- but i don't endlessly hate on them. i definitely hated on i gotta feeling for a hot minute but when i hear it on the radio now i actually kind of like it.

j lol (surm), Thursday, 19 May 2011 17:46 (fifteen years ago)

I strongly suggest checking them out, I like nu-BEP but I really miss old-BEP

I HAVE ISSUES (DJP), Thursday, 19 May 2011 17:47 (fifteen years ago)

coo

j lol (surm), Thursday, 19 May 2011 17:50 (fifteen years ago)

I kinda burnt out on "weekend" as the song always played at house parties by friends who hated street rap, chart rap etc. BEP's subsequent transformation must have upset that crowd no end.

Tim F, Thursday, 19 May 2011 22:25 (fifteen years ago)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnYiQ2FVG8I

sorry I just love this track and I'd never actually seen the video before

I HAVE ISSUES (DJP), Thursday, 19 May 2011 22:43 (fifteen years ago)

"I Gotta Feeling" is better than either of those songs and I hate "I Gotta Feeling".

jho'sh? "ice cr?m" jackson (The Reverend), Thursday, 19 May 2011 23:12 (fifteen years ago)

i think the only BEP song i properly like to date is "my humps" :/

that's my hair no horses up there (lex pretend), Thursday, 19 May 2011 23:13 (fifteen years ago)

It's "Imma Be" and nothing else.

scissorlocks and the three bears (Eric H.), Thursday, 19 May 2011 23:14 (fifteen years ago)

("Joints & Jams" is what's up tho.)

jho'sh? "ice cr?m" jackson (The Reverend), Thursday, 19 May 2011 23:15 (fifteen years ago)

"Edge of Glory" is the only song in the current top 5 I like and I only kind of like it.

jho'sh? "ice cr?m" jackson (The Reverend), Thursday, 19 May 2011 23:15 (fifteen years ago)

I be hatin'.

jho'sh? "ice cr?m" jackson (The Reverend), Thursday, 19 May 2011 23:16 (fifteen years ago)

given how boring adele fundamentally is, "rolling in the deep" being okay feels like some sort of minor triumph

that's my hair no horses up there (lex pretend), Thursday, 19 May 2011 23:18 (fifteen years ago)

"Meet Me Half Way" was great.

LeRooLeRoo, Thursday, 19 May 2011 23:23 (fifteen years ago)

Meet Me Halfway was a great chorus paired with some of the most embarrassing, half-assed verses I've heard in years:

I spent my time just thinkin thinkin thinkin bout you
Every single day yes, i'm really missin' missin' you
And all those things we use to use to use to do
Hey girl, wuz up, it use to be just me and you
I spent my time just thinkin thinkin thinkin bout you
Every single day, yes i'm really missin missin you
And all those things we use to use to use to do
Hey girl wuz up, wuz up, wuz up, wuz up

love you like a frat kid loves Cake (Tape Store), Thursday, 19 May 2011 23:29 (fifteen years ago)
