It is a well-known fact that most albums released in December are usually either "best of" compilations or crowded with songs about Santa, reindeers, Christmas trees, snow and mistletoes.....

It's the same with all these polls, really; the innovative and truly talented are seldom even mentioned, it's always the mediocrities and Buggins' turns who've been around for years.

my no 1 is erykah, but young jeezy, wiley* and nappy roots made really outstanding albums; lil' wayne, t.i. and trina made inconsistent ones but with amazingly high highs; will also rep for gucci mane, bun b and tinchy stryder too (they're certainly better than tv on the radio, at any rate).

I cannot believe the lack of Cat Power on these. It kills Modern Guilt with a scimitar. And the lack of Ladyhawke is a bit boggling as well. And of course, Girl Talk is just the worst "music" ever made.

how can you get that excited about Ladyhawke tho? couple of pleasant radio-friendly electropop songs but surely that's it. i'd sooner have Ladytron (ignored because it's the same old same old but they've refined it enough to keep me coming back to the best tracks damn them)

yes, that is a daft argument. i still prefer Ladytron's harder sound tho (plus they're no more ploughing the same old furrow than half the bands in these polls inc. pretty much all the bands who've been around 15 years or more).
