opposite for me -- wasn't too hard to sort out my personal canon of top 50 rap LPs but narrowing down 50 tracks out of all the thousands of songs i've loved felt impossible.

For me, rap is much more a singles genre (is that rockist? who cares.) and, as such, I have a much firmer grasp on which songs have meant the most to me over the last 25 years or so. As for albums, I really only have a total of 20 or 25 albums that I return to time after time and stretching that list out to 50 (which I may not even end up doing) is going to be more of a task.

I've pretty much decided my Top 50s but I'm enjoying listening to all the nominations so much that I'm going to hold off submitting for a while yet. I've listened to nothing but hip hop since Sunday - this poll is a total joy.

Kinda tempted to place this as my #1 track... It starts all cool with some well put slice-of-life storytelling, but the way everything leads to the epiphany at the end - damn, just damn!

And yeah, choosing just 50 track seems like an impossible task, albums were much easier to narrow down.
