Brotha Lynch Hung "Coathanga Strangla" about as good as Dinner and a Movie. sonically similar but the production's even darker if ya can believe that.

this is one of my fav trax from it

Nice beat from K.R.I.T. on this

Number None, Thursday, 21 April 2011 11:05 (fifteen years ago)

^^^lol there were ads for that at my bus stop. guest list is crazy

I'm digging Return to 4eva, especially the back half, but Pfork review was right that a lot of his rapping is pretty pedestrian.

also: lol at Kurt Cobain line, and it seems like half the songs contain specific references to Goodie Mob, Outkast, or UGK

The Everybody Buys 1000 Aerosmith Albums A Month Club (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 21 April 2011 15:28 (fifteen years ago)

excited about that brotha lynch hung

i was telling j0rdan (i think?) that i suspect berner has some rich uncle, how tf is a regional rap dude like berner who looks like a high school stoner affording wiz khalifa guest spots??

'yoko' is dope tho

geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:23 (fifteen years ago)

yeah why would wiz khalifa align himself with a regional rapper who looks like a high school stoner

some dude, Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:24 (fifteen years ago)

also, could have been recorded before wiz really became mainstream-famous

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:32 (fifteen years ago)

haha. tbf usually he aligns himself with dudes he actually went to high school with

i mean, who the fuck is berner?? he dropped two albums with jacka. he has to have deep pockets

geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:38 (fifteen years ago)

maybe he's just tight w/ the jacka* and those albums did well enough to fund his other projects?

*btw is deej the only person in the world who only ever calls the jacka just "jacka"

some dude, Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:39 (fifteen years ago)

its such a weird pairing is all

geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:42 (fifteen years ago)

i mean, hes not a great rapper, although occasionally he writes some bars that are pretty solid. but his flow is goofy

i doubt im the only dude who drops an unnecessary article to save time, no

geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:43 (fifteen years ago)

dudes like Lee Majors & Laroo had careers prior to working w/ jack, iirc. and its not like berner was in mob figaz. idk i just get a diplomat's son vibe from dude (maybe this is racist)

geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:44 (fifteen years ago)

Disney should reboot alladin for generation y and have the alladin grow up to be berner

J0rdan S., Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:50 (fifteen years ago)

If you add 'the' to some of those other dude's names they kinda sound like superhero sidekicks -- the berner! the husalah! the jacka!

J0rdan S., Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:52 (fifteen years ago)

it did surprise me the first time i saw stuff about the jacka outside ilm and was like "wait his name has a the?"

some dude, Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:54 (fifteen years ago)

in songs other artists call him 'jack' 'the jack' 'the jack artist' 'jacka' 'the jacka' etc etc etc

geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:57 (fifteen years ago)

are you a fan of recording artist snoop doggy dogg

geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:58 (fifteen years ago)

but i mean 90% of the time including your earliest posts about him there's no "the"

some dude, Thursday, 21 April 2011 17:02 (fifteen years ago)

also everybody knows who snoop is

some dude, Thursday, 21 April 2011 17:03 (fifteen years ago)

It's kinda bewildering when gucci blatantly calls himself "gucci man" in a few songs

J0rdan S., Thursday, 21 April 2011 17:08 (fifteen years ago)

ill be real, i feel weird referring to a person as "The" something

geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 21 April 2011 17:09 (fifteen years ago)

jacka pretend

some dude, Thursday, 21 April 2011 17:15 (fifteen years ago)

had no idea his name was THE lex

geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 21 April 2011 17:19 (fifteen years ago)

unrelated: maybe this is a completely stupid observation, but I was noticing today how K.R.I.T. does that southern drawl thing where he drops hard syllables from the ends of various words ("love" becomes "luh", "world" becomes "wurl" etc. and yes I know loads of southern guys do this) and it struck me as being remarkably similar to African pidgin english

The Everybody Buys 1000 Aerosmith Albums A Month Club (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 21 April 2011 17:26 (fifteen years ago)

i thin i read somewhere that berner was some kind of big weed dealer...

there was a point in Baltimore a few years ago when half the most popular local songs used gun sounds for percussion, i should compile them all at some point
