Chris Brown can still die in a fire afaic

idk just cuz someone's on the radio doesn't mean they have to be talked about
lexbomb
― All this information makes America phat (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 18 April 2011 15:45 (fifteen years ago)
the quality of the FAME singles has to make you realize how much everyone in the music industry wants him to succeed. tha bizness, diplo, busta, weezy, etc. he's routinely the worst part of these songs.

all of this just makes me wish that the industry hadn't sunk all of their money into such a little shit

yup
― banjee trillness (The Reverend), Monday, 18 April 2011 16:18 (fifteen years ago)
well he has had a handful of dope songs post-beating and has been all over the radio like it or not, i kinda wish peeps itt wouldnt be all falling all over themselves and shit to OFFICIALLY DISTANCE THEMSELVES from anything to do with this (admittedly dumbass) 21 year old, it's like we get it deal with it or stfu already
― k3vin k., Monday, 18 April 2011 16:28 (fifteen years ago)
only dope song he's had post-beating is "Look at Me Now" and like zach said, he's the worst thing about it
― banjee trillness (The Reverend), Monday, 18 April 2011 16:31 (fifteen years ago)
i wouldn't imagine "make you come over and over again...AND I'MA LEAVE IT IN!!" being catnip to anyone but the creepiest #teambreezy fangirl
― steendriving is very bad - but I got a fake ID though! (some dude), Sunday, April 17, 2011 5:05 PM (Yesterday)
hahaha - i just meant wrt its obvious "bed" debt & you know i'm a sucker for any songs that sound like this
― k3vin k., Monday, 18 April 2011 16:32 (fifteen years ago)
he hasn't done anything sufficient to stop me continuing to judge him on his behaviour. fair enough if he'd come out with the kind of UNDENIABLY AWESOME MONSTER pop song that you have to give in to in the end, but if his material is just kinda dope or aight or songs you "don't mind" hearing that's really really not enough to cut him slack and pretend everything's okay again
― lex pretend, Monday, 18 April 2011 16:33 (fifteen years ago)
that said i haven't heard "look at me now"
nearest he's got to a genuinely great song post-beating that i've heard was "i can transform ya" and once other people started to vocal the beat, there was pretty much no reason to pay attention to chris brown
― lex pretend, Monday, 18 April 2011 16:34 (fifteen years ago)
i've absolutely loved "yesterday", "no bullshit", and his hook on "make a movie" and can deal with a few other joints.
― k3vin k., Monday, 18 April 2011 16:34 (fifteen years ago)
congrats, you like some horseshit

yeah i mean you're entitled to your opinion but this is nonsense to me, either his songs are hot or they're not
― k3vin k., Monday, 18 April 2011 16:35 (fifteen years ago)
sonned by noted modern r&b fan dan perry

hahaha
― Oh, Monseur le Fapp, you are really oiling us... (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 18 April 2011 16:38 (fifteen years ago)
i was really glad "yesterday" ended up being one of my least favourites on LTTP regardless of how i felt about CB
either his songs are hot or they're not
i guess i'm saying they're not hot enough! yeah, if they were HOT then maybe it'd be time to pay attention to him, but if they're just, like, lukewarm-to-warm? not enough. he should have a lot more to do to get back in anyone's good books.
also it's not like he distinguishes himself for anything he specifically does on his material these days.

maybe you can help me decode the thread where that guy pretended "Ass On The Floor" sounds like "Yamaha"

it's worth talking about Chris Brown, Asshole bc there are probably other people who are like me who have guilt pangs every time "look at me now" comes on the radio and the station almost gets switched immediately before going 'noooope not strong enough'
it's omnipresent and tbh a weird listening experience
― more fish for kunta (zachlyon), Monday, 18 April 2011 17:12 (fifteen years ago)

idk i like a lot of chris brown singles but i'm failing to think of one where he isn't "the worst part" of the song. he's almost always been a function of the song itself, and he's happened to have been on a lot of good ones
― J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2011 17:38 (fifteen years ago)
back when he was younger the youthfulness of his voice did help carry some songs ("yo", "no air", "with you") but it's not like any other young singer couldn't have pulled those off, so idk
tbf, he only had like 3 good songs pre-beating
― banjee trillness (The Reverend), Monday, 18 April 2011 17:44 (fifteen years ago)
i liked more than that

"obvious debt" though?
― some dude, Tuesday, 19 April 2011 14:38 (fifteen years ago)
yeah i should have said "similarity" instaed of "debt" - even i'm not deluded enough to think songwriters are out there studying ways to ape all of my favorite terius slow jams
― k3vin k., Tuesday, 19 April 2011 15:35 (fifteen years ago)
yeah it's all good (although i still don't really hear any link more specific than "midtempo male sung R&B songs about sex").
― some dude, Tuesday, 19 April 2011 15:51 (fifteen years ago)
it's those big soft-but-booming drum sounds, but i'd put those more in debt to ciara than terius
― goole, Tuesday, 19 April 2011 16:40 (fifteen years ago)
"No Bullshit" drums don't sound remotely like Los OR Polow "Promise" style imo
― some dude, Tuesday, 19 April 2011 16:50 (fifteen years ago)
not even remotely?
― goole, Tuesday, 19 April 2011 18:48 (fifteen years ago)
ok yes, remotely
― some dude, Tuesday, 19 April 2011 19:03 (fifteen years ago)
the drums yeah, but there's something about the tempo & structure of the song that is reminiscent of "bed" imo

One of the best radio hits of the year
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 May 2011 15:03 (fifteen years ago)
i wonder if Jermaine Dupri remixed it just to capitalize on the fact that Chris Brown sounds exactly like him when he raps (Da Brat's verse on that = best thing to ever happen to this song btw)
― some dude, Thursday, 5 May 2011 15:08 (fifteen years ago)
busta's verse is nice but the rest of that song is a mess. wtf at that bop-it! production
― estkella (k3vin k.), Thursday, 5 May 2011 15:09 (fifteen years ago)
Beat is cool! Lmao at "bop-it! production" tho
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 May 2011 15:10 (fifteen years ago)
predictably the phrase "bop-it! production" is actually making me want to hear this
― Dreaded Burrito Gang (DJP), Thursday, 5 May 2011 15:13 (fifteen years ago)
It was produced in some part by diplo
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 May 2011 15:17 (fifteen years ago)
According to Afrojack, the song is the product of a beat he passed along to Diplo, telling Akshay Bhansali of MTV News that "Diplo called me. And he was like, 'We are in the studio right now, and we are gonna do a track on the beat.' And I was like, 'OK, whatever. Have fun'."
for some reason when Diplo matches a beat with an artist he gets a production credit instead of an A&R credit
― some dude, Thursday, 5 May 2011 15:20 (fifteen years ago)
lol I did try to listen to this before and bailed before the chorus
I keep forgetting that I love Busta, there is too much music in this world
― Dreaded Burrito Gang (DJP), Thursday, 5 May 2011 15:24 (fifteen years ago)
xp yeah I never quite understood that -- I just assumed that there was some unspoken of tinkering by diplo that earned him the credit
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 May 2011 15:26 (fifteen years ago)
it's a good track once you get past CB's contributionbusta's so fun.Also, this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3A9Biseb4s
