he hasn't done anything sufficient to stop me continuing to judge him on his behaviour. fair enough if he'd come out with the kind of UNDENIABLY AWESOME MONSTER pop song that you have to give in to in the end, but if his material is just kinda dope or aight or songs you "don't mind" hearing that's really really not enough to cut him slack and pretend everything's okay again

nearest he's got to a genuinely great song post-beating that i've heard was "i can transform ya" and once other people started to vocal the beat, there was pretty much no reason to pay attention to chris brown

i've absolutely loved "yesterday", "no bullshit", and his hook on "make a movie" and can deal with a few other joints.

idk i like a lot of chris brown singles but i'm failing to think of one where he isn't "the worst part" of the song. he's almost always been a function of the song itself, and he's happened to have been on a lot of good ones

back when he was younger the youthfulness of his voice did help carry some songs ("yo", "no air", "with you") but it's not like any other young singer couldn't have pulled those off, so idk

tbf, he only had like 3 good songs pre-beating

yeah it's all good (although i still don't really hear any link more specific than "midtempo male sung R&B songs about sex").

it's those big soft-but-booming drum sounds, but i'd put those more in debt to ciara than terius
