D-40, Friday, 15 April 2011 17:15 (fifteen years ago)

could you explain jord? like Yung LA got a donald duck tattoo and that made alley boy mad? why?

the zing cheese incident (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 15 April 2011 19:01 (fifteen years ago)

yung LA got this tattooed on his face http://a4.l3-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/102/d03688604bda4ed2a91f9cf4839a9d5e/l.jpg

J0rdan S., Friday, 15 April 2011 19:04 (fifteen years ago)

duct tape ent is alley boy's crew -- i'm unclear as to why yung LA got it tattooed on his face, whether or not he just liked the design, or if he was trying to get in w/ them (this is what the video makes it seem like, but getting a face tat would be a pretty extreme move) -- i guess then he got word to get it altered, he said no, so alley boy & his crew jumped him

J0rdan S., Friday, 15 April 2011 19:06 (fifteen years ago)

i don't get why it's seen as 'honorable' to attack a dude w/ 6 other dudes? seems pretty cowardly in my eyes

J0rdan S., Friday, 15 April 2011 19:08 (fifteen years ago)

“That tattoo just comes from something in the city,” explained Yung LA. “My cousins grew up with a lot of people from Zone 6, I know a lot of people from Zone 6, and the people from Zone 6, there whole movement is called Duct Tape and I just had been really getting up with these guys. Everybody in the city from Zone 6, Zone 3, Zone 1, from Duct Tape to YGC to CDB to 30 Deep, there’s so many cliques in Atlanta and I just wanted to be the Robin Hood, I just wanted to be the guy that could have relationships with everybody in the city.”

Though his relationship with Duct Tape Entertainment, and Atlanta record label, has been disputed by Alley Boy, an artist and co-CEO at the label, Yung LA remains adamant about his affiliation.

lmao

D-40, Friday, 15 April 2011 19:11 (fifteen years ago)

“He didn’t sit down with any of the heads at Duct Tape,” Alley told XXLMag.com, clarifying that LA is not signed with the imprint. “[Yung LA] aint’ get the okay from none one of us and ain’t none one of us told you nothin’ about you having nothing to do with Duct Tape. You dead wrong.”

To the casual observer, LA’s tattoo is just a duck. To Alley, the logo represents loyalty. “There are people willing to lay down their life for that logo, we’re a real close knit family,” said the Duct Tape honcho , who’s also signed to Atlantic Records as an artist.

Asked what he believes was the motivation behind the artwork, Alley said: “I guess he ran into my lil’ homies and shit, kickin’ it with them. You know they drinkin’ lean, smokin’ together…I guess he took that [as] being cool with some Duct Tape members, but they can’t tell you to go put nothin’ on your face.”

“He’s gonna have [to get] like a pendant or a star or somethin’ to cover that shit,” Alley added. “It’s like an ex-boyfriend name or somethin’, he finna get that shit covered-up.

feeling these two tracks a lot

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8s7R3p-dIc

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WVl98bAKPU

also the g-side album is a bit slept on - rev/rennavate and i talked about it on twitter a bit last night. think we all think the production >>>> the rapping, but the production is pretty special (the strings on "came up") and i love the overall cohesive feel of it.

also, the young dro mixtape is predictably great - this is prob my favourite track on it. HOES IN A SUMMERHOUSE IN BEIJING

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXl7vebhNgg

lex pretend, Tuesday, 19 April 2011 08:12 (fifteen years ago)

I don't think the G-Side album is slept on, it just got its love from the indier sections of the internet. I don't really like it, drums don't hit hard enough or something. Funny that they flipped a Beach House sample before The Weeknd tho.

"wait so skinny" is cool altho it barely scans as trina to me

can I just say the credit "Pitbull Featuring Ne-Yo, AfroJack & Nayer" (whoever the hell Nayer is) is hilarious. song sux tho.

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Tuesday, 19 April 2011 17:45 (fifteen years ago)

i heard that on the radio the other day and was kinda surprised how much i liked it, considering how far both Pitbull and Ne-Yo have both fallen off

some dude, Tuesday, 19 April 2011 17:46 (fifteen years ago)

ha, I meant that to be on rolling pop, but I guess it works on this thread too

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Tuesday, 19 April 2011 17:48 (fifteen years ago)

anyone dl the new prodigy mixtape from complex? all produced by sid roams, kinda curious

the zing cheese incident (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 19 April 2011 19:11 (fifteen years ago)

I've only heard 'Strong' from the Prodigy mixtape which apparently isn't produced by sid roams, anyway, i think whoever produced it messed up the nina simone sample - between the verses it sounds slightly awkward to me - they make a slight cut and it doesn't flow right to my ears. I'm probably just being picky fuck it.

i love that they're still releasing jams off this nht boyz record even though it's from last year, shit is still one of the most underrated records from '10 i think. its way fun, lots of dimension, playful old school vibe w/out sounding 'retro'
